Filmrare
Web3 native video distribution platform that uses NFT ownership to provide access to content
About
The problem it solves Video distribution is broken especially for independent creators. The Web2 abundance has made revenue dependent on the number of likes, views, and shares whereas most independent creators have a small community around them. Filmrare is creating a scarcity-driven model where creators can monetize their work by minting a limited set of tokens for access to the content. Most marketplaces and platforms are considering video NFTs as any other NFT but Filmrare is taking video NFTs as the next frontier to innovate with challenges like decentralized storage and delivery, applying Adaptive Bitrate Streaming, and submarining where media access is restricted to NFT owners. We're especially interested in getting an audience with Kunal because this could be the way movies are released even in mainstream entertainment.
How it's made
Challenges we ran into For user adoption, we had to find a way for token buyers to pay without holding any crypto. We also wanted a simple UX where buying is done seamlessly in the backend. We ended up integrating OpenZeppelin's Defender where we use a Yelay address to pay for Gas on behalf of the buyer. So now a user can purchase an NFT using just a credit card.
