    Crowd.Fund

A crowd funding website built on ethereum blockchain.

    About

The problem it solves 1. The Ethereum-based crowdfunding platform will provide a secure, transparent, and decentralized way for users to create fundraising campaigns and donate to other campaigns. With smart contracts, secure transactions, and automatic Ethereum conversion, the platform will simplify the crowdfunding process and make it accessible to users worldwide. 2. User will have access to a dashboard where they can view fund-raisers started by other people in community, as these fund-raisers are validated by contracts and placed on block chain they minimize the requirement of trust on a third party organization. 3. Campaign owners can view the donations received, track progress towards their goals, and communicate with their donors. 4. All of the funds and its usage is etched on block chain history and can't be altered, thus improving genuinity of platform and all interactions on it. 5. All the donations by users are directly supplied to the campaign owners and can be verified on ether scan. 6. Prices for all the donations are converted to dollar and vice versa through decentralized oracle network of chainlink. 7. Feature is yet not complete however if users find a fund-raiser to be ingenuine they can vote that campaign out of chain and retrieve all of the donations to rightful owners. 8. Another feature we wanted to include and will include in future is to return funds to specific donators in case the campaign is unable to raise required amount within deadline and users at the time of donation had opted for a return of funds feature.

    How it's made

Challenges we ran into This was our first time using blockchain, so it was quite a learning experience. We had to learn about the basics of blockchain and solidity, we used youtube videos, hackathon workshops and other references like articles to learn the concepts. One of the major issue we ran into was taking the input of funds from our website in USD and converting it into ethereum as solidity does not allow for floating points to exist, all the values recieved from users and chainlink oracles had to be mapped to wei and vice versa. We also faced many diffculties along the way of integrating, deploying and writing smart contracts as web3 programming is much different from conventional programming, we were able to understand the concepts of fallback, recieve functions, various ways of transfering ethers from contracts to other addresses as well as, we were able to get a profound grip on working of blockchain and how impactful this technology is.
