    Tool402

Agent-ready APIs with x402 payments and tokenized funding on Hedera.

    Demo

    About

Tool402 is a Hedera Testnet marketplace prototype connecting API providers, backers and software agents. Its goal is to help finance the creation or improvement of specific tools through a capped share of their paid usage, rather than a guaranteed yield. The prototype combines machine-readable tool discovery, an x402 consumer payment client, provider campaign workflows using Hedera Asset Tokenization Studio, and HBAR backing for open offerings. RiskScan Quick is our first example tool: it checks supplied disclosures about identity, pricing, limitations and evidence. Optional World Selfie Check adds a wallet-bound human-presence signal alongside MetaMask authentication. We keep payment confirmation, token allocation and revenue distribution separate. Backing records can be checked server-side against Hedera transaction evidence, but a confirmed transfer does not automatically issue tokens or distribute revenue. The project demonstrates the foundations of agent-driven API commerce and tool-specific financing, not a live investment product.

    How it's made

Tool402 is a strict TypeScript monorepo with separate web, consumer-agent, core and backend packages. The interface uses Next.js 16, React, Tailwind CSS and nuqs, while Convex stores application records and workflow state. The consumer agent is a Node.js CLI built with @x402/core and @x402/hedera. It discovers RiskScan, evaluates the quoted network, asset and amount against an explicit spending policy, and handles the signed payment request and response validation. Blocky402 is the intended Hedera Testnet settlement facilitator. MetaMask handles wallet approvals and signed commands. Server-authenticated requests connect Next.js to Convex. For tokenization, we use the official Hedera Asset Tokenization Studio Factory contract artifacts with viem to encode deployBond and decode deployment events. A key engineering focus was making transaction evidence durable and preventing duplicate use. Backing verification checks the sender, recipient, amount and successful receipt, binds each transaction hash to one funding attempt, and supports status recovery without sending HBAR again. World IDKit provides optional Selfie Check, with server-side verification and a signed, wallet-bound cookie.
