About
ProofPay is a human-verified work marketplace that makes gig payments safer with on-chain USDC escrow. Clients create tasks and fund the payment before work begins, while workers verify that they are real humans using World ID. Once a worker completes the task and the client approves the submission, the escrow releases the USDC payment. ProofPay combines human verification, programmable escrow, and a simple marketplace workflow to reduce payment risk and build trust between clients and workers.
How it's made
ProofPay is built as a full-stack web3 marketplace using React, Next.js, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS. Privy handles authentication and embedded Ethereum wallets, while World ID provides human verification for users. The smart-contract layer is written in Solidity and developed and tested with Hardhat. We use viem for blockchain interactions such as funding escrow and assigning workers. Arc is used as the settlement network with USDC as the payment asset. Supabase stores the off-chain marketplace data, including tasks, applications, and workflow state. The key design choice is to keep marketplace data off-chain while using the blockchain for the critical financial state: securing and releasing payments through the ProofPayEscrow contract.
