    About

ProofPay is a Web3-powered freelance payment platform designed to make digital work more trustworthy, transparent, and secure. The platform connects clients and freelancers while solving one of the biggest problems in freelancing: trust between people who may have never met before. ProofPay uses World ID to verify that users are real, unique humans, helping reduce fake accounts, bots, and fraudulent identities. Users can complete verification through World’s identity infrastructure without exposing unnecessary personal information to the application. For wallet and authentication infrastructure, ProofPay uses Privy, allowing users to onboard easily and interact with Web3 wallets without requiring complicated blockchain setup. This makes the experience feel closer to a traditional Web2 application while retaining the benefits of blockchain. Payments are handled using Arc and USDC, providing a transparent and programmable payment layer. When a client creates a freelance agreement, funds can be locked into an escrow smart contract. The freelancer then completes the agreed work, and once the conditions are satisfied, the payment can be released. The goal of ProofPay is to create a trust-minimized freelance marketplace where identity, agreements, payments, and settlement are connected through programmable infrastructure. Instead of relying entirely on a centralized platform to decide who gets paid, ProofPay uses blockchain-based escrow and verification mechanisms to make the process more transparent. The platform can eventually support reputation, milestone-based payments, dispute mechanisms, and on-chain proof of completed work.

    How it's made

ProofPay is built using a combination of Web3 identity, wallet infrastructure, backend services, and blockchain smart contracts. The frontend is built using React/TypeScript, providing the interface where clients and freelancers create profiles, create agreements, manage projects, and initiate payments. Privy handles authentication and wallet infrastructure. Users can sign in and receive or connect a wallet without needing to manually manage complex wallet setup. Privy provides the wallet interaction layer between the application and blockchain. World ID is integrated for human verification. During onboarding, users complete World's verification flow. The resulting proof is sent to the backend, where it is verified before marking the user's account as verified. The backend is built using Node.js and TypeScript. It manages users, projects, agreements, verification status, payment states, and communication with external services. A database such as PostgreSQL/Supabase stores application data. For payments, ProofPay uses USDC on Arc. Smart contracts implement the escrow logic: the client deposits funds, the contract holds them, and payment is released according to the agreement's conditions.
