About
PayMe is a marketplace for human-made knowledge in an AI-driven world. Creators can publish original articles, documents, transcripts, tutorials, skills, or research notes, then set a price for access. The app hashes each source to create a verifiable fingerprint, stores the full content behind a locked preview, and preserves the creator’s wallet-based attribution. Readers or AI agents can browse sources, view previews for free, request a Hedera x402-style payment quote, and unlock the full content after payment verification. Each unlock records the buyer, creator, source, amount, currency, and transaction metadata, giving creators a basic earnings and usage history. The goal is to create a simple payment and attribution layer for original human knowledge, so creators can prove ownership, control access, and get paid when their work is used by people or software agents.
How it's made
PayMe is built as a React + Vite frontend with a Python FastAPI backend. The frontend lets a creator enter a wallet-style identity, publish a source, browse the marketplace, preview locked content, request a payment quote, unlock a source, and test an AI-style citation flow. The backend uses FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, and SQLite for the MVP data layer. When a source is created, the backend generates a SHA-256 content hash, stores the full content, creates a short preview, and exposes only the preview until the unlock endpoint verifies payment. Purchases are recorded with buyer wallet, creator wallet, amount, currency, and transaction metadata. For Hedera, I implemented an x402-style exact-scheme payment quote using hedera:testnet, HBAR-to-tinybar conversion, a configurable pay-to account, and a verification layer with demo mode and strict mode. This makes each source unlock behave like a paid API request. I also added The Graph-ready analytics endpoints for marketplace stats and Bazantic-style manifest/recipe endpoints so agents can discover, unlock, and cite paid human-made sources. The hacky part is the demo verification mode, which lets the full product flow work locally before wiring in real facilitator settlement.
