About
ModZero is a decentralized content provenance and licensing platform that uses blockchain, fingerprinting, and watermarking to verify ownership, enable content licensing, handle disputes through community challenges, and provide transparent provenance without centralized moderators.
How it's made
We built ModZero as a full-stack decentralized provenance and licensing protocol. Solidity smart contracts on Ethereum Sepolia handle content registration, staking, licenses, claims, challenges, posts, and wallet-native usernames. A TypeScript/Express backend with SQLite indexes the blockchain state and integrates Hedera HCS for ordered provenance events. The frontend uses React, Vite, Tailwind, wagmi and viem for wallet interactions. We use dHash + invisible LSB watermarking for content matching. A particularly hacky part is binding license payments to contentId + requester at the transaction-data level, then independently re-verifying the payment on-chain before issuing the license, preventing cross-content payment reuse and replay.
