    Late Gate

Decentralized insurance for flight delays with automatic payout

    Demo

    About

Late Gate is a travel utility for people who fly a lot and are tired of eating delays. Before you fly, you pick a real flight, choose a Takeoff delay or Arrival delay stub, set how late counts (30, 45, or 60 minutes), and pay a fixed USDC premium. If the flight crosses that line, the stub pays out automatically. No airline claim form. No waiting weeks for a voucher. We refuse flights that are already a mess or past the buy window, because a random average book would lose money at these prices. Selective underwriting (and one stub per verified human per flight) keeps the shared liquidity pool solvent. Anyone can deposit USDC into the house pool that backs payouts. Same stub shape later extends to timed events like concerts. Built as a World Mini App so verified humans can buy cover without a crypto-cosplay UI.

    How it's made

Late Gate is a Next.js travel UI wrapped as a World Mini App with MiniKit for wallet auth and World Chain USDC payments. Traveler flow: airline and route pick → buyable flights → Takeoff or Arrival stub → fixed premium with payout scaled by 30/45/60 → World ID verification in checkout → pay USDC → OPEN stub → worker settles PAID or EXPIRED from flight observation. World is the partner prize path. We use IDKit for uniqueness (one human bound to one flightKey) as abuse prevention for the pool, with an honest Sandbox / orbLegacy path when Selfie Check Beta is still access-gated, plus FEEDBACK.md. Money lives on World Chain: travelers pay and get paid in USDC; LPs deposit into a USDC vault that backs max payout exposure. Pricing uses delay probabilities with a load factor and p_max gates so we only sell when expected value stays positive. Hacky but useful: consumer surface hides rails (no wallet chrome theater), while settlement and pool accounting stay on-chain where it matters. Demo fixture centers ETHGlobal Tokyo (SFO→NRT).
