Stake-backed communities for transparent proposals, voting, and automated USDC capital routing.

About
BERT Community Layer brings transparent, stake-backed governance to online communities. Instead of relying on chats, polls, and trusted administrators, communities can make important decisions through an onchain lifecycle. Members join by locking USDC, admins or members create proposals, and member-submitted proposals are reviewed by independent validators before reaching a community vote. Once voting is complete, the protocol settles the result automatically. Depending on the outcome, USDC is routed between the community treasury, validator reward pool, global BERT reserve, and voter refund claims according to transparent onchain rules. Our demo uses a Minecraft Community example: members can propose features, validators approve eligible proposals, the community votes YES or NO with USDC, and the resulting capital flow is settled directly onchain. BERT turns community decisions into verifiable, stake-backed actions rather than promises made offchain.
How it's made
BERT Community Layer is built as a fully onchain community governance system. The core is written in Solidity and deployed on Arc testnet, using USDC as the asset for membership stakes, proposal bonds, and binary voting. Each community is created through a CommunityFactory that deploys and registers a CommunityHub and CommunityTreasury pair. The CommunityHub manages local roles, membership, proposals, validator approvals, voting, and lifecycle transitions, while the CommunityTreasury keeps USDC custody and separates membership-locked funds, execution funds, validator rewards, and voter refund claims. The frontend is built with TypeScript and Next.js, with wagmi and viem used to interact directly with smart contracts. No custom backend is required for the MVP: community data is read from contract views and onchain events. The project is tested with Hardhat and includes deployment scripts for Arc testnet and a dedicated demo community.
