About
Why are you participating for Based LatAm? By building and using Base infrastructure and partnering with regulated entities, we are bridging traditional finance and blockchain technology. This enables us to deliver a consumer app that complies with local regulations while offering Latinos a better, faster, and lower-cost option for cross-border payments. Additional Features We allow deposits in USDC in Base and send USDC to any Basenames.
How it's made
What challenges are you focusing on? The current payment system in LatAm is fragmented and constrained by local jurisdiction, making cross-border transactions slow, complex, and expensive. Latinos have a critical need for dollar savings to hedge against currency inflation. Sending money within LatAm is complicated due to local regulations, and outdated banking systems like SWIFT, affecting millions of users and billions in transfers annually. How does your submission address this challenge? Zeneca will be integrating Base so that users can receive payments in USDC or USD, save their money in dollars, and seamlessly convert it into local currency. We enable customers to send money globally as easily as local transfers, providing borderless banking and giving customers 24/7 control over their funds. We are partnering with different on-off ramp partners in the US and LatAm, who are already regulated within the different countries we are currently operating from, thus building a bridge and connecting the fragmented ecosystem through one app. We are launching in Panama and Colombia first then slowly rolling out to Central America, countries like Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador are highly underserved with many financial needs. Challenges we ran into We faced some issues dealing with WAGMI, Pimlico, Viem, Privy, and Expo. It was difficult to integrate many packages to make Smart Wallets work properly. Also when trying to initialize the Smart Wallet with the Privy signer we got some errors but we solved it.
