About
Why are you participating for Based Africa? 9ja Onchain was born out of the need to address the challenges faced by the Nigerian creative industry, particularly in the areas of misinformation, trust, and transparency. We are deeply rooted in the local community and motivated by the drive to leverage blockchain technology, especially Base, to empower creatives and entrepreneurs. Our goal is to onboard Nigerian artists, writers, musicians, and creators onto onchain platforms, giving them a secure and trusted environment to thrive and build their businesses while overcoming misinformation.
How it's made
What challenges are you focusing on? We are addressing the widespread issue of misinformation, which has crippled trust and transparency in the Nigerian creative space. Many creatives lack knowledge of blockchain technology and its ability to solve these issues, preventing them from reaching their full potential. We are also focusing on the challenges of intellectual property theft, improper compensation, and lack of access to global markets. By introducing creatives to the Base platform, we aim to eliminate these barriers, fostering trust and enabling growth. How does your submission address this challenge? Our platform offers education and onboarding to help creatives navigate the blockchain space effectively. The impact of this is far-reaching, as it opens up global opportunities for Nigerian creatives and helps foster economic growth in the local community. Challenges we ran into One of the challenges faced was educating creatives on the importance of blockchain and how it could directly solve their problems. Many had preconceived notions and lacked technical knowledge. To overcome this, we developed tailored educational content, workshops, and presentations, which simplified the concepts of decentralization, tokenization, and minting. another hurdle we faced was having limited editors, and equipments/resources to create these contents, we had to work around some initial technical difficulties, but by collaborating with members of creative alchemy and using available resources, we successfully implemented the onchain features.
