    Warpie Cast Bot

Bridging the gap between Telegram and Warpcast by encouraging users to engage with Warpcast posts to unlock the chat. The Telegram chat remains muted until like, comment, and recast targets are met.

    About

The problem it solves Various projects and users can use the Warpie Cast Bot to bolster and increase their presence on Warpcast through the existing Telegram communities they have built. Requests from the team and community to engage with Warpcast posts can easily get lost in the endless messages that are being sent in the chat. By restricting users' ability to send messages during the request to engage with the post, the community is incentivized to engage on Warpcast. This is one part of our initiative to bridge people from Twitter / X onto Warpcast in unique, engaging ways.

    How it's made

Challenges we ran into Some challenges I ran into were using the Neynar API to fetch Warpcast post data. The bot I created would crash if proper checks and error handling wasn't in place. I overcame this by using try - catch loop to handle errors that may arise from the API being down, or unresponsive, or otherwise. Also, properly identifying current administrators in the telegram chat (whether they be new, or existing) so that non-admins couldn't manipulate the bot and maliciously mute the chat. I solved this by checking the administrators every time the bot is called, and removing old ones that may have left the chat.
