    About

The problem it solves **Medix** is a decentralized protocol for tracking, verifying, and certifying media consumption using non-transferable (soulbound) NFTs. It enables users to generate cryptographically verifiable proof that they have genuinely completed digital content such as books, movies, anime, manga, TV shows, online courses, and other consumable media. By transforming everyday consumption into immutable on-chain records, Medix eliminates trust issues associated with unverifiable claims and enables new primitives for reputation, community formation, and credentialing in Web3. Medix combines automatic client-side tracking, backend verification, and gasless NFT minting to create a scalable Proof of Work (PoW) model rooted in authentic human activity rather than computational expenditure. **Problem Statement** Digital media consumption is a core component of modern identity, education, and culture. However, claims such as “I read this book,” “I completed this course,” or “I watched this series” are inherently unverifiable. Existing platforms rely on centralized records, screenshots, or self-reported data, all of which are prone to fraud, exaggeration, or loss. This lack of verifiable proof creates friction across multiple domains: Communities suffer from shallow or inauthentic participation Creators and brands lack reliable engagement metrics Educators and employers cannot trust completion claims Users cannot port their achievements across platforms Medix addresses this gap by introducing an on-chain verification layer for media consumption. **Medix Overview** Medix is a decentralized achievement verification system that issues soulbound NFTs as proof of completed media consumption. These NFTs are: Non-transferable, ensuring authenticity Immutable, guaranteeing long-term verifiability Wallet-bound, forming part of a user’s on-chain identity By anchoring consumption data on-chain, Medix converts subjective claims into objective credentials. **System Architecture** 3.1 Client-Side Tracking A Medix Chrome extension monitors user engagement on supported platforms (e.g., streaming services, reading platforms, educational sites). The extension tracks progression signals such as: Watch duration and completion thresholds Page progression and reading milestones Session continuity and interaction patterns This ensures that achievements reflect genuine engagement rather than superficial interaction. **Verification Layer** Tracked data is submitted to Medix backend services, where it undergoes verification checks to confirm: Completion validity Anti-cheat heuristics Platform-specific thresholds Only verified completions are eligible for minting. **Minting and Blockchain Layer** Once verified, a soulbound NFT is minted on the Lisk testnet and permanently linked to the user’s wallet. Key properties include: Gasless minting via transaction sponsorship Metadata encoding content type, completion proof, and rarity Non-transferability enforced at the smart contract level **Proof of Work Model** Medix introduces a novel Human-Centric Proof of Work, where time, attention, and completion replace computational hashing as the scarce resource. Unlike traditional PoW: No energy-intensive computation is required Work is tied to real-world intellectual or cultural activity Value is derived from verified human effort This model redefines “work” as meaningful engagement rather than raw compute. **Rarity and Gamification** Each NFT is assigned a rarity tier (Common → Legendary) based on criteria such as: Media type and length Completion difficulty Category scarcity Rarity introduces gamification while preserving the integrity of achievements, encouraging long-term participation without compromising trust. **Core Use Cases** 6.1 On-Chain Media Resume Users build a verifiable portfolio of consumed content, forming a decentralized “media resume” that can be shared across platforms. This is applicable to: Personal branding Job applications Knowledge and interest signaling **Gated Communities** NFT ownership enables access-controlled communities where participation is limited to verified completers of specific content. This ensures high-signal interactions and authentic group formation. 6.3 Creator and Brand Analytics Creators and platforms gain access to verifiable engagement metrics, enabling: Authentic fan identification Token-gated rewards and perks Trustworthy testimonials 6.4 Education and Professional Credentialing Medix NFTs function as decentralized credentials for: Online courses Training programs Certification materials These credentials are portable, tamper-proof, and interoperable with broader Web3 identity systems. 6.5 Review and Reputation Systems

    How it's made

Challenges we ran into - **Lisk Faucet Limitations:** Medix required more testnet funds than the Lisk faucet allowed due to frequent deployments and NFT minting. This was solved by sourcing ETH on Sepolia and bridging it to Lisk using the Lisk testnet bridge. - **Soulbound NFT Enforcement:** Preventing NFT transfers required custom contract logic beyond standard ERC-721 behavior. We solved this by overriding transfer and approval functions at the smart contract level and adding additional tests for edge cases. - **Gasless Minting Reliability:** Transaction sponsorship occasionally failed due to relayer issues or invalid payloads. This was resolved by adding retry logic and stricter backend verification before submitting sponsored transactions. - **Client-Side Tracking Accuracy:** Early tracking logic produced false positives for media completion. We refined engagement thresholds and added interaction and session-continuity checks to ensure only genuine consumption was verified.
