Universal Health Chain - A Blockchain Powered Universal Health Record Management System

The personal health record can be owned by the patient with an appropriate data protection mechanism and can be shared for specified durations to healthcare providers whenever required.

    About

The problem it solves Each citizen with a Blockchain-based identity (UHC) can grant permission to doctors for accessing their medical records as and when required. In case of emergency the doctor can gain access to the health records using the patients biometric, which will trigger an alert to the registered emergency contacts. Having a health history of the patient at the doctor’s fingertip will allow him to provide more accurate and delicate care. An analysis of tamper-proof medical history of the UHC holder helps to diagnose severe health issues and epidemics at its early stages. Using smart contract, we mapped names to the Ethereum account so that no one needs enter the long Ethereum address to interact with another user.

    How it's made

Challenges we ran into The collection of data pertaining to the real scenario was extremely difficult, we overcame this by using our connections and with the help of google sis ?. Choosing a decentralized data store was another difficult we faced, we tried different technologies such as IPFS, BigchainDB turned out to difficulty to implement. Usage of Embark lead to a solution, but limited time duration, and us being new to the technology it was not feasible. So, for the PoC we used blockchain as data store. We needed to implement a wallet for the patient to pay money to the doctor, we intended to use Maker DAO’s Dai coin due to its stable nature and ease of payment, but that too turned out be difficult. As alternative we created and deployed an ERC20 standard token as our coin (UHC2: Universal Health Chain Coin) for the payment.
