About
The problem it solves The DeFiPunk Subgraph is a subgraph built on The Graph protocol to **evaluate how well DeFi protocols align with the Ethereum Foundation DeFiPunk framework**: *"Applications that run exactly as programmed without any possibility of downtime, censorship, fraud, or third-party interference"* The DeFiPunk Subgraph indexes and queries on-chain data from DeFi protocols (real-time protocol data from DeFiLlama, on-chain analytics from The Graph subgraphs, and DeFiscan.info dashboard) to assess their adherence to cypherpunk principles (privacy, decentralization, immutability, open-source licenses...) and provides investors with a clear, data-driven alignment score.
How it's made
Challenges we ran into I. It was pretty messy for a first-time user (especially publishing the subgraphs) but all the video tutorials really helped debug it all! Thanks to the documentation team at The Graph. II. We still need to discuss with the community about how we really score the DeFiPunk level of DeFi protocols - notably the privacy, and DAO decentralization / Security council requirements aspects of it. For the demo we decided to go with 6 metrics (which are definitely not precise enough, and we believe some metrics should be fused together , yet with the time and resources available, we decided to focus on the PoC: 1. Decentralization (25%): This dimension evaluates the governance structure, admin controls, and reliance on multisig wallets. 2. Open Source (20%): This measures the availability of the code, transparency, and auditability. 3. Third-Party (20%): Protocols that are reducing reliance on third parties gets a better score. 4. Privacy (15%): This assesses transaction privacy options (anonymity / obfuscation integrations) offered by the protocol. 5. Immutability (10%): Protocols are rated on their upgradeability risks and whether their contracts are immutable. 6. Permissionless (10%): This evaluates the protocol's resistance to access restrictions and censorship, ensuring that anyone can participate without barriers. We are obviously looking to update with more precise metrics and go through rigorous peer-review to define the "right" method. We would love to hear from anyone reading this, and we are actively monitoring various Decentralization Maturity Dashboard / Framework to present a better scoring method in the future (anticapture.com, walletbeat.com, l2beat.com, explorer.web3privacy.info/, and DeFiscan.info). Let us set better standards and enhance our curation methods for the DeFi Industry!
