The problem it solves - Every single year, 67 million tons of food is wasted in India! - 194,400,000 : 194.4 Million People are under-nourished in India, every year! This is incredibly unfortunate as food is one of the integral needs of man. **How can we address this by using the power of tech?** Where does food wastage occur? **Warehouse and the Supply Chain** - Warehouses are the interface between the field and the plates of food. - Warehouses are one of the major node in the supply chain where wastage occurs. - Due to improper management of the supply chain, wastage occurs. - Due to unpredictable conditions, food gets wasted. *Our **innovative** solution consists of two major technologies :* - An **Ethereum** based warehouse supply chain management -> All transcations are stored on the Ethereum blockchain -> Records can be viewed by all parties involved, ensuring non-repdiation and transparency -> An innovative, responsive WebApp is built in React, so that it can be used in any device. - A **Machine Learning / Image Processing** based : Expiry Prediction, Fire Detection, & Open-Ripening -> An Ethylene Predictor model is used to monitor the ethylene levels in the warehouse. Too much ethylene can over-ripen perishable goods, which lead to spoilage. -> Expiry Prediction model uses real-time factors to detect when perishables get spoiled. -> Fire Detection uses CCTV cameras to detect potential fires in advance, and ensures goods don't get destroyed. **Features** - Why our solution is awesome! - Blockchain -> All warehouse records are stored on the blockchain - Immutable -> The records cannot be modified and can be viewed by anyone, ensuring transparency - Automation -> Our model automates and prevents over-ripening - Expiry Prediction -> Our model predicts the expiry time of perishables in real-time. - Fire Prediction -> Real time-fire detection based on image processing - Safety -> Warehouse goods are protected from danger
How it's made
Challenges we ran into Since we were relatively new to the Ethereum blockchain, we ran into some challenges - Since a Warehouse Management solution requires a lot of parameters, we ran into the **stack too deep** error multiple times. We rectified this error by passing some params as an array to the contract in Solidity. - Making the ML Models work in real-time and interact with the Node-RED endpoints was slightly hard, and we are made it real-time after a hard struggle. - Since there are many drastic differences between different versions of Solidity, we had to go through tons of documentation to make it work properly. - We had to tune the Ethylene prediction model a lot by taking in factors like : Temperature (Farenheit) Humidity (relative humidity - %) Ice (0/1) Water Sprinkled (0/1) Carbon Dioxide Levels (ppm) Oxygen Levels (ppm) in order and more to attain perfection and good accuracy. - Due to **lack of Ether**, we couldn't test the web app in the Ethereum mainchain.
