    How it's made

Challenges we ran into 1. Frontend-Backend Integration Complexity Problem: Initially, the frontend and backend were completely disconnected. The chat interface was using mock data, and there was no API communication layer. Solution: Created a comprehensive API client (lib/api.ts) with proper TypeScript interfaces Built a custom useChat hook to manage state and API calls Implemented proper CORS configuration in the backend Added Docker networking to ensure services could communicate 2. State Management for Real-Time Chat Problem: Managing loading states, error handling, and message synchronization between frontend and backend was tricky. Solution: Implemented a robust state management system in the useChat hook Added proper error boundaries and fallback messages Created smooth loading indicators that match the app's therapeutic tone 3. Docker Service Communication Problem: Services couldn't communicate with each other when containerized, even though they worked in development. Solution: Added a custom Docker network (app-network) Configured proper environment variables for service discovery Set up dependency management in docker-compose to ensure proper startup order 4. Maintaining Therapeutic UX During Technical Integration Problem: Adding real API calls could have broken the smooth, calming user experience that's crucial for a therapy app. Solution: Preserved the gentle loading animations and thoughtful response delays Maintained the warm, SRK-inspired personality even in error messages Ensured the UI never feels "broken" or technical, even when APIs fail The biggest learning was that mental health apps require extra attention to UX details - every loading state, error message, and interaction needs to feel supportive rather than frustrating.
