SNORT - On the Run
Help our BASEd degenerate anti-hero 'Snort' break free from his prison cell in his desperate dash for freedom!
About
The problem it solves 'SNORT - On the Run' intends to bridge the gap between web2 and web3 gamers. The term 'game-fi' almost has a negative connotation due to the myriad of mindless 'button clicker' style token farming apps disguised as games when in fact they have no true gameplay at all. SNORT - On the Run aims to solve this by bringing classic addicting gameplay into the web3 realm by leveraging the BASE blockchain. The game utilizes what we call 'play to burn' tokenomics where-by all $SNORT Base tokens spent inside the game are automatically sent to the burn address This is not only good for the token itself by reducing circulating supply, it also benefits the game experience as it frees the developer to focus on making the game more engaging and traditional in its appeal. By developing for web-browsers and offering a 'Guest Mode' to try the game without the need to connect to wallets - the game can be played by anyone anywhere regardless of their background in crypto. Be it on their mobile phone, their desktop PC or even their smart fridge, the game's simple one touch controls allow the fun to be had anywhere. We then promote the NFT GAME PASS via popup ads with a link to our BASE NFT free mint. This popup ad explains the extra features minting the nft will unlock including the ability to purchase power-ups with $SNORT, compete in tournaments to win prizes and play with custom characters and weapons. Our intention is to bridge the void between web2 gamers and the BASE ecosystem to onboard a whole new generation of gaming enthusiasts to web3. How it's made
Challenges we ran into Developing for browsers is never easy and this was no exception. Dealing with a myriad of compatibility issues across multiple browsers was one of the main challenges we faced. Compromises around game aspect ratios (needing to be portrait for mobile experience) and ensuring it ran on a variety of different shaped windows without providing a look-ahead advantage to some players was a core prirority. The decision to fix the game at the mobile portrait aspect ratio was made as it offered the broadest compatibility across all devices. Another main challenge was developing the security layer for the game. Being a web browser game the client code is potentially hackable so there needed to be a robust security system in place as we are giving away real token prizes to winners of tournaments. During play; as the player is accumulating ingame soft currency we are streaming the these gold coins to the game in realtime from a server with secure encryption and extensive security rules around validating the final score in place. If they tamper with anything on the client the score will be auto-invalidated and they will not even appear on the leaderboards at all.
