Semaphore
Decentralized Sentiment Oracle
About
The problem it solves Semaphore gives any smart contract and autonomous agents access to real-time, verifiable market sentiment, something that currently doesn't exist on-chain. Today, protocols can react to price movements, but they cannot react to the social narratives and news events that often cause those movements in the first place. We this by turning live social web sentiment from sources like Twitter/X, Reddit, Google News, and Telegram into a decentralized oracle feed that smart contracts can consume directly, just like Chainlink price feeds. Semaphore’s oracle data enables smart contracts and on-chain applications to become more resilient, adaptive, and context-aware by allowing them to: Detect panic, fear, or negative narratives before major market crashes Automatically adjust risk parameters based on real-world sentiment Trigger circuit breakers or emergency protections during extreme fear events Power AI trading agents with pay-per-query narrative intelligence Create prediction markets and financial products based on public sentiment trends Help DAOs detect community backlash or governance instability Enable wallets and consumer apps to surface narrative-risk warnings to users Allow insurance protocols to dynamically adjust premiums based on ecosystem risk Provide autonomous agents with machine-readable narrative awareness Unlike centralized sentiment APIs, Semaphore is permissionless, composable, and auditable. Every data request is paid for through X402 micropayments, every scrape is verifiable, and every sentiment result is linked to an on-chain proof and data hash. We also built a real-time web dashboard that showcases the oracle data in an an aggregated and intuitive interface. The dashboard visualizes: Live sentiment scores and fear/greed signals Narrative strength indicators Asset-level trend tracking and momentum changes Historical sentiment movements Source-level signal breakdowns Market-wide sentiment distribution Search and filtering tools for specific assets, protocols, or blockchains On-chain verification and transmission activity This demonstrates how DeFi protocols, AI agents, trading systems, and risk-management platforms could directly integrate Semaphore’s oracle feeds into their own infrastructure and decision-making systems. In short, Semaphore brings narrative awareness to blockchains: enabling protocols to respond not just to price changes, but to the information and emotions driving the market itself.
How it's made
Challenges we ran into Apify currently requires USDC on the mainnet, which involves 402 transactions. While this setup presents a usability challenge, it is a limitation of the underlying network rather than Apify itself
