    OpenAccount

Your universal blockchain Account. Built on Ethereum L2, controlled with passkeys. No passwords, just seamless web access. Redefining digital identity.

    About

The problem it solves OpenAccount is a smart contract account that exists on the blockchain, controlled by users through passkeys. Our innovative approach combines the security and ownership benefits of blockchain technology with the ease of use that modern web users expect. Key Features: - User-Owned and Controlled: Your account exists on the blockchain and is solely controlled by you using passkeys. - Never Lose Access: Set up social recovery with trusted friends or family, or use email/phone number recovery options. - Easy and Safe to Use: No passwords to remember, no seed phrases to store, no plugins to install, and no gas fees to worry about (we sponsor these costs at first). - Universal Login: Use your OpenAccount to sign in to various applications, from social platforms to email services, just like "Sign in with Google". - Shared Reputation: Build a reputation score that's recognized across multiple applications, creating a Sybil-resistant social network. - Integrated Payments: Your account comes with built-in payment capabilities and functions as a cryptocurrency wallet.

    How it's made

Challenges we ran into Challenge 1: passkeys are being adopted and are crucial for the project. Implementing secure passkey verification and integration have been challenging, especially considering it needs to work across different devices and browsers. Solution: We implemented a universal signature and verification model based on the WebAuthn standard, ensuring broad compatibility and adherence to industry best practices. Additionally, we developed a comprehensive SDK that encapsulates our passkey implementation, allowing easy integration for other applications and dApps. Challenge 2: how to receive feedback from users and communicate with them? For this challenge, we took three main actions: - Inviting friends to try the demos first, receiving feedback or bug reports from them, and continuously refining demos. - Actively promoted our demo address to allow potential users to experience our product. - Established a Telegram group (t.me/oaxyz) to facilitate communication between users and builders. Challenge 3 (not a past challenge, but a foreseeable one): We need support from Apps and DApps to serve OpenAccount as one of the login entry points. Solution: We will continuously monitor WebAuthn protocol developments to ensure our product remains secure and user-friendly. By integrating wallet functionality, enhancing user interactions, and supporting a variety of applications, we will improve the overall user experience. We will develop a robust reputation system to build trust among users and actively seek partnerships with projects that prioritize security and privacy. Additionally, we will pursue funding opportunities and collaborate with experts who share our vision. Through these efforts, we aim to gain support from Apps and DApps to serve as a unified login entry point.
