    About

The problem it solves **Retail traders are currently trapped between high-risk speculation and overly complex financial tools.** On Base Chain, retail users ("degens") often resort to memecoin trading because institutional-grade derivatives are too intimidating. Traditional DeFi Option protocols present users with confusing "Option Chains," complex Greeks (Delta, Gamma, Theta), and liquidity fragmentation. Furthermore, the SocialFi sector (e.g., Friend.tech) suffers from a retention crisis—users leave once the hype fades because there is no real financial utility beyond speculating on social clout. **NovaCreator solves these problems by building a "Hybrid Layer" between Social Discovery and DeFi Execution:** - **Democratizing Derivatives:** We abstract away the complexity of Options Trading. Instead of calculating lot sizes or analyzing Greeks, users simply choose a direction ("Up" or "Down"), input their investment amount (e.g., "$10"), and execute trades instantly. - **Solving SocialFi Retention:** We introduce "Core Mode"—a real-yield utility layer. Users don't just chat; they copy-trade verified "Alpha Callers." This ensures users stay on the platform for financial execution, not just social interaction. - **Verifiable Reputation:** By tracking "Paper Trading" performance in our gamified Creator Mode, we help users distinguish between skilled traders and noise/scams, creating a safer environment for social trading. - **Gas-less Experience:** Leveraging Account Abstraction (Smart Wallets), we remove the friction of seed phrases and gas fees for onboarding, making DeFi feel like a Web2 fintech app.

    How it's made

Challenges we ran into **Integrating the Thetanuts V4 OptionBook API and logic was the most significant challenge.** Unlike standard AMMs (Automated Market Makers) where you simply swap Token A for Token B, Thetanuts V4 operates on a sophisticated **Order Book model** for Options. - **The "Contracts" vs. "Investment" Logic:** The API returns option prices per contract (e.g., 1 ETH), but our UX goal was to let users input a dollar amount (e.g., "Invest $10"). I struggled to write the backend logic to precisely calculate how many fractional contracts (`0.0xxxx`) a user receives based on the real-time `Best Ask` price from the Order Book. I had to reverse-engineer the calculation to ensure the `fillOrder` function on the smart contract wouldn't revert due to slippage or insufficient liquidity depth. - **Data Synchronization:** Fetching real-time `Strike Prices` and `Expiries` that actually had liquidity (offers) from Market Makers was tricky. Initially, the UI would show strikes with no liquidity, causing failed transactions. I solved this by filtering the API response to only display "Tradable Strikes" on the frontend. - **Visualizing P&L:** Creating the "Payoff Diagram" and "Break Even" calculator on the client-side required reimplementing financial formulas (Black-Scholes logic simplified) in JavaScript to give users instant feedback on their potential profit/loss before they confirmed the transaction.
