    About

Why are you participating for Based Africa? We are participating in Based Africa because we believe in the transformative power of blockchain technology, especially in regions like Africa, where there is immense need for innovation. My experience as a smart contract developer and Devrel aligns with the goals of fostering decentralization and empowering communities through technology. Having worked on projects that emphasize decentralization, such as building decentralized marketplaces and platforms for voting, I have seen firsthand how blockchain can provide solutions to problems like transparency, fraud, and financial inclusivity. Africa, with its young population and growing tech ecosystem is a fertile ground for these innovations to take root and scale. I am particularly passionate about contributing to solutions that promote economic empowerment, decentralized governance, and access to financial services. Based Africa offers a unique opportunity to engage with like minded individuals to collaborate on meaningful projects, and contribute to the growth of the blockchain space in the region, where such solutions can have a significant impact. Additional Features Our project was not built before the buildathon but during.

    How it's made

What challenges are you focusing on? Ticket Fraud Prevention Challenge: In traditional ticketing, counterfeit tickets and unauthorized resales are rampant. Scalping and Resale Control Challenge: Ticket scalping (buying tickets in bulk and reselling them at inflated prices) is a major issue in traditional platforms. Decentralized Ownership and Control Challenge: Traditional ticketing platforms often act as middlemen, controlling the entire process and imposing hefty fees. Secondary Market Revenue Challenge: Artists and event organizers often lose out on revenue from secondary market sales. Transparency and Tracking Challenge: Traditional systems lack transparency, making it hard to track ticket history or verify legitimate sales. Ownership Rights for Buyers Challenge: Buyers have limited ownership rights with traditional tickets, which can be revoked or restricted. How does your submission address this challenge? 1. Ticket Fraud Prevention; NFTs provide a transparent and verifiable way to prove ticket ownership, ensuring authenticity and preventing counterfeit tickets. 2. Scalping and Resale Control; With NFTs, you can impose smart contract rules that control resale pricing or limit transfers, ensuring that tickets are resold at fair prices. 3. Decentralized Ownership and Control; : By using NFTs, you eliminate the need for centralized intermediaries, giving event organizers and ticket holders more control over ticket distribution and ownership. 4. Secondary Market Revenue; Smart contracts can enforce royalty payments on every resale, ensuring event organizers and artists receive a share of secondary market profits. 5. Blockchain based ticketing offers a transparent ledger of transactions, making it easy to track the lifecycle of a ticket and ensure its legitimacy. 6. Ownership Rights for Buyers; NFTs provide buyers with verifiable and transferable ownership, giving them the freedom to resell or transfer their tickets as they see fit, within the conditions of the smart contract. Challenges we ran into 1. Front end developer encountered a challeneg getting the API key for onchainkit. It was resolved by using a Non-Nigerian Dev phone number to sign up and get us the API. 2. UI/UX developer challenges include understanding how certain flows work as a web2 designer transitioning into Web3. Struggled to grasp concepts like minting a ticket and buying a ticket. Resolved by doing more research. 3. Smart contract developer had issues with integrating open zeppelin on foundry which was resolved later. 4. Backend developer had challenges understanding the flow of execution of mint tickets. 5. Contract auditing challenge was fixing the gas optimization and scalability.
