Naegift
Web3 gift marketplace, integrating decentralized identity and smart contracts for better digital gift exchanges.
About
The problem it solves Traditional digital gifting faces trust issues and security risks. We don’t know who is who and what is what, but we anyway blindly rely on the centralized authorities to know about it. Imagine an imposter that sells fake items. Also imagine a seller who denies the fact that they sold, refusing to deliver goods or services. We don’t have to tolerate them when cryptographic algorithms can verify the truth with absolute certainty. That's why we Naegift introduces three key features: Decentralized Identifiers and Verifiable Gift Credentials for secure transactions; an escrow service using Ethereum smart contracts for trusted fund holding; and decentralized notifications via Push Protocol for timely updates."
How it's made
Challenges we ran into Sleep Deprivation and Time Pressure: The hackathon's intensive nature, coupled with tight deadlines, led to significant sleep deprivation. The constant race against time to develop, test, and refine our project put immense pressure on the team. This lack of rest not only affected our physical well-being but also our cognitive functions, making it harder to problem-solve and think creatively. Understanding and Utilizing Scaffold: Scaffold emerged as a promising tool to expedite our development process. However, our attempts to grasp its functionalities and effectively integrate them into our project were met with difficulties. Given our nascent coding experience, navigating through Scaffold's complexities and leveraging its full potential was a steep learning curve. Grasping Advanced Concepts and Technologies: Next.js Abstractions: The use of Next.js introduced us to a new level of abstraction in web development. Our limited experience made it challenging to fully understand and apply these abstract concepts effectively, slowing our progress and leading to frustration. WAGMI React Hooks for Smart Contracts: Integrating WAGMI React hooks to interact with an escrow contract was another hurdle. Despite our theoretical understanding, practical application proved to be complex, hindering our ability to utilize these hooks for effective smart contract interaction. Ethereum Sepolia Network Congestion: Our project relied on recording a demo video that showcased our application's interaction with the Ethereum blockchain. Unfortunately, congestion on the Sepolia Network led to delays in transactions and events not being emitted as expected. This not only prevented us from creating a comprehensive demo video but also highlighted the unpredictability and scalability issues of working with blockchain technologies.
