Why are you participating for Based Africa? We are participating in Based Africa because we believe in the transformative potential of blockchain technology to empower local communities in Africa. As a team of builders from Nigeria, we see firsthand the challenges community leaders face in recognizing achievements and facilitating engagement. Our motivation stems from our desire to create a more efficient, cost-effective way to distribute certificates, awards, and event tickets. Mintify aims to revolutionise the way communities celebrate accomplishments by leveraging the power of base blockchain to issue digital certificates, awards, and tickets that are secure, tamper-proof, and verifiable. This is crucial for educational institutions, professional organisations, and event organisers who seek more transparent and scalable solutions for credentialing and event management. Our dedication to Mintify doesn’t stop with the Buildathon. We have long-term plans to continuously develop and enhance the platform even after the Buildathon to keep serving our users right. By participating in Based Africa, we are taking the first crucial step in realising this vision. We believe Mintify can become an invaluable tool in Africa's digital transformation journey, empowering communities to celebrate achievements, build trust, and embrace the future of decentralised technology. How it's made

What challenges are you focusing on? Our project addresses the challenges community owners and project leaders face when issuing certificates and rewards to their members. Traditionally, the process is time-consuming and costly, especially when designing individual certificates for large groups. This often leads to delays and increased expenses. At Women In DeFi, for example, the cost and complexity of issuing certificates after completing training programs is a recurring issue which has now become a major concern for the community leaders. However, that era has ended as we have now created a thoughtful, innovative and creative solution to this problem. With the help of Base, we are addressing these challenges by providing a blockchain-based platform, Mintify, that enables the secure issuance, verification, and management of digital certificates, awards, and event tickets. By leveraging Base blockchain technology, MINTIFY offers a tamper-proof, cost-effective, and easily accessible solution that enhances trust and transparency within the community. This allows institutions and individuals to confidently issue and verify credentials, reducing the risk of fraud and the inefficiencies associated with traditional systems. By tackling these challenges, we are helping to create a more transparent, trustworthy, and efficient system for recognizing achievements and fostering community engagement across Africa. How does your submission address this challenge? By using the base blockchain technology, Mintify ensures that certificates, awards, and event tickets are issued in a secure, immutable manner. Once issued, these credentials cannot be tampered with or altered, addressing the widespread issue of fraud and credential manipulation in traditional systems. This brings much-needed transparency to the process and increases the trust between communities and recipients. MINTIFY allows project and community leaders to easily mint and distribute thousands of NFTs by uploading a design and recipient details through a simple, user-friendly process. Once minted, they receive a Mint Hash to share with recipients, who can then claim their NFTs by connecting their Coinbase wallet, and verifying eligibility all with just a few clicks. Recipients can view, download, or save their NFTs seamlessly on platforms like OpenSea. With Mintify, organisations can issue digital credentials with ease, reducing costs and the time required for credentialing processes. This allows educational institutions, event organisers, and companies to scale their operations without additional expenses. Mintify is designed to be inclusive, user-friendly and accessible by anyone, with minimal resources required, individuals and institutions can easily issue, manage, and verify credentials. This inclusivity ensures that no one is left behind. The potential impact of Mintify is highly significant. By addressing core challenges related to credentialing and event management, Mintify helps to foster a culture of transparency, accountability, and efficiency across communities in Africa. Individuals who receive certificates or awards will have secure, verifiable proof of their achievements, improving their chances of gaining employment, furthering their education, or participating in professional opportunities. Mintify is more than just a platform—it is a viable tool for empowering communities, building trust, and fostering engagement. Challenges we ran into While we enjoyed building on Base, we faced few challenges that should be addressed to enhance the user experience and ensure seamless interaction with Base technologies. 1, Coinbase Wallet Accessibility Issues: Coinbase Wallet did not work for us unless accessed through a VPN. Even when we used a VPN, it was still quite slow, particularly when loading transactions. This significantly impacted the efficiency of our workflow. However, the use of VPN was very helpful to us. 2, Onchain Kit Registration Restrictions: We were unable to register and access Coinbase’s Onchain Kit due to regional restrictions. This limited our ability to fully utilize Coinbase’s tools for our project. We had to use a relative's phone numer who lives abroad before we could successfully register for Onchain kit. 3, Bug and Technical Issues: We did face some bugs and technical issues, these were not related to Base itself. We were able to resolve these by debugging and working through the technicalities, ensuring the project could move forward. On a positive note, despite the challenges we faced, we thoroughly enjoyed the experience of building on Base and We look forward to upgrading, advancing and potentially launching MINTIFY into a proper startup to empower more communities and celebrate achievements!
