About
The problem it solves # The why A Games richness and culture is driven by the emergent and creative behavior of players, and the derivative content they create. A game's vibrancy is driven by the unexpected things people discover, do, build and create in a games ecosystem (e.g. mods, streams, tutorials, fan art, memes). We believe that most players are creators at heart, that they long for opportunities to be more than mere consumers, that they want to contribute to, share and expand games. However, games are often not built for co-creation. For example, achievement systems are pre-defined by core developers. Furthermore incentives are not fully aligned, limiting player creativity and thus the richness of a games ecosystem. # What we built “Made It” aims to enable frictionless creativity by creating an integrated platform where players can Make and share game achievements & moments. We built a system which allows anyone to create new achievements for games. Achievements extend the life and objectives/rules of a game. With Made It, a game can have an unlimited amount of objectives. This can lead to completely new types of games that are user generated. Second, gameplays can be replayed within the platform. Anyone can collect others' moments. Gameplays are sold on a bonding curve, meaning that collectors have upside if a moment goes viral thus stimulating community members to spread the word about the game. Furthermore trading fees are split amongst game and moment creators as well as existing collectors. Moments incentivize unique/emergent behavior in games, as players are rewarded based on social consensus as opposed to a game's pre-defined rules/objectives. “Made It” is built on top of RIVES (RISC-V Verifiable Entertainment System), an onchain fantasy console RIVES enables provable game scores (e.g. speedrun) by submitting gameplay logs onchain for verification. RIVES can run games on RISC-V (e.g. it can run DOOM), making it easy for developers to port/build games on any language.
How it's made
Challenges we ran into We had a blast building our project, but as usual in hackathons, we were too ambitious on what to build. Adding features to compete on sponsor tracks was challenging as those were released pretty late, and could have used extra time before the hackathon to study those. The wifi at the venue was mostly saturated but fortunately the available switches for using cabled connection were really appreciated. Getting testnet tokens are a pain, would be great to have an event faucet to drip tokens to wallets whitelisted on devfolio. We also had issues with non-deterministic contract deployments on BASE Sepolia testnet that we are still investigating.
