About
The problem it solves Indonesia has **270 million people** and a rapidly growing crypto community of **12+ million users**. **Options trading offers 8-15% annual returns**, significantly higher than traditional savings, yet these powerful DeFi strategies remain **inaccessible** to most. Why? Traditional options platforms overwhelm users with **intimidating interfaces** - complex order books, unfamiliar jargon like Delta, Gamma, Theta, and Strike Prices, complete with dull UIs and steep learning curve. ### How KITAfinance Changes the Game KITAfinance elegantly solves these barriers by transforming Thetanuts V4's powerful options infrastructure into an **intuitive, culturally-relevant, and genuinely fun experience**. ### 1. Gamified Experience Let's be honest: finance apps are *boring*. KITAfinance changes that fundamentally. We turned wealth-building into something people actually *want* to do: - **XP Progression System**: Level up from "Pemula" (Beginner) to "Master Trader" - every action earns experience points - **Monthly Campaigns**: Themed events like "Valentine's Special Nabung Bareng" - create a couples saving group for bonus rewards - **Achievement Badges**: Unlock rewards for hitting milestones like first deposit, first yield, or inviting friends - **Daily Missions**: "Complete your first trade" → +100 XP. Users return daily to complete challenges - **Leaderboards**: Compete with friends and the broader community for top positions - **Streak Badges**: Maintain your "Nabung Bareng Streak" for consistency rewards - shareable badges flex your commitment on social media **Result**: Finance stops feeling like homework. KITAfinance makes building wealth feel like a game worth playing every day. ### 2. NabungBareng In Indonesia, we have a cultural value called *gotong royong* - the belief that we achieve more together than alone. KITAfinance's "Nabung Bareng" feature brings this deeply Indonesian concept to DeFi. Friends and family can **pool money together for shared life goals**: | Goal | Description | |------|-------------| | **Menikah** | Save together for your dream wedding | | **Beli Rumah** | Pool funds for a house down payment | | **Liburan Bareng** | Fund that group vacation to Bali or Japan | | **Pendidikan** | Parents and relatives contribute to a child's education | | **Beli Kendaraan** | Collective saving for a family car | | **Dana Darurat** | Build an emergency fund together | Each group is **personalized to its goal**: - Visual themes adapt based on the selected goal - Smart calculators show per-person contribution breakdowns - AI provides tailored tips ("Biaya nikah rata-rata Rp 50-100 juta") - Integrated sharing via Telegram and WhatsApp for easy invitations - **Shareable Group Progress Badges** - show off your group's savings streak and milestones on social media **Result**: Groups access larger options positions together, democratizing yields that were previously only available to wealthy individuals. KITAfinance makes saving social, not solitary. ### 3. Intuitive Language & UI We replaced intimidating financial jargon with simple, everyday Bahasa Indonesia: | Complex Term | KITAfinance Translation | Meaning | |--------------|------------------|---------| | Cash-Secured Put | **Beli Murah Dapat Cashback** | Buy Cheap, Get Cashback | | Covered Call | **Hold Aset Dapat Bonus** | Hold Assets, Get Bonus | | Buy Call | **Modal Receh Potensi Jackpot** | Small Capital, Jackpot Potential | Our **"Ocean Blue" design system** feels like a consumer app, not a trading terminal: - **Mobile-first**: 95% of Indonesian internet users are mobile-first. Every pixel is optimized for 375px screens - **44px touch targets**: Thumb-friendly buttons that feel natural to tap - **Visual metaphors**: Icons and colors communicate risk/reward without requiring text parsing - **Animated feedback**: Every action provides satisfying micro-interactions **Result**: Users understand strategies instantly. No finance degree required. A first-time investor in Jakarta can comprehend the app in 30 seconds. ### 4. Personalized AI-Chatbot That Knows You During onboarding, KITAfinance learns about you through conversational questions. Our AI then provides **personalized guidance** throughout your journey: - **Risk Profiling**: Simple questions determine your comfort level - "Aman" (Safe) → Conservative strategies, steady 8-12% APY - "Balance" → Mixed approach for moderate risk - "Agresif" → Higher risk, higher potential returns - **AI Chatbot**: Powered by Google Gemini, available 24/7 in Bahasa Indonesia - Ask: "Gimana cara kerja options?" - Receive: A friendly, jargon-free explanation tailored to your level **Result**: Users never feel lost. The AI acts as a personal financial advisor that speaks their language and understands their goals.
How it's made
Challenges we ran into ### 1. Complex Backend Architecture with Prisma Building a real-time options trading backend required careful data architecture. **The Hurdle**: We needed to sync on-chain events (deposits, withdrawals, option executions) with off-chain user data while maintaining strict data consistency. Managing relational models for users, positions, groups, and transactions introduced complexity around race conditions and atomic operations. **The Fix**: We designed a robust Prisma schema with proper indexing, used transactions for critical operations, and implemented an event-driven architecture that listens to on-chain events to update database state. This ensures our user-facing data always reflects the true blockchain state. ### 2. Implementing Cash-Secured Put Logic On-Chain The smart contract logic for Cash-Secured Put was non-trivial. **The Hurdle**: We had to handle: - USDC collateral management and secure locking - Integration with Thetanuts V4's `IOptionBook.fillOrder()` interface - Premium distribution and yield calculations - Edge cases: partial fills, expiration handling, and withdrawal timing **The Fix**: We built two separate vault contracts (`KITAVault` for solo trading, `GroupVault` for Nabung Bareng) with clearly separated concerns. We used OpenZeppelin's security standards for access control and reentrancy protection. Multiple iterations of yield math ensured accurate premium distribution while keeping user funds secure. ### 3. Designing Mobile-First UI That Doesn't Feel Like a Trading Terminal Most DeFi apps look like Bloomberg terminals - functional for traders, intimidating for everyone else. **The Hurdle**: We needed to create an interface that feels like a consumer mobile app while still enabling sophisticated options trading. This required rethinking every UX pattern from scratch. **The Fix**: We developed our "Ocean Blue" design system with strict mobile-first principles: - Minimum 44px touch targets for all interactive elements - Thumb-zone optimization for critical actions - Animated micro-interactions for every user action - Progressive disclosure - show complexity only when needed - Constant testing on actual mobile devices (not just browser simulators) ### 4. Translating DeFi Jargon to Bahasa Indonesia The hardest challenge wasn't technical - it was **linguistic**. **The Hurdle**: How do you explain "Cash-Secured Put" to someone who has never traded options? Direct translation fails because the underlying concepts don't map to everyday Indonesian vocabulary. We needed language that conveyed the *benefit*, not the *mechanism*. **The Fix**: We went through dozens of copywriting iterations with native Indonesian speakers. Key insight: focus on *outcomes*, not *processes*: - "Cash-Secured Put" → "Beli Murah Dapat Cashback" (Buy Cheap, Get Cashback) - "Covered Call" → "Hold Aset Dapat Bonus" (Hold Assets, Get Bonus) We also created contextual AI tips that explain concepts using relatable Indonesian metaphors. This UX copywriting took more time than we expected but was absolutely crucial for true accessibility. ### 5. Thetanuts V4 Integration Complexity Integrating with Thetanuts V4's RFQ system presented unique challenges. **The Hurdle**: The RFQ (Request for Quote) flow involves fetching available orders, matching them to user intent, and executing fills - all while presenting a simple UI. Mapping a user's "I want yield" desire to specific option parameters (strike price, expiry, premium) required significant translation logic. **The Fix**: We built abstraction layers in our backend that handle the complexity: 1. Fetch available orders from Thetanuts V4 2. Filter and rank by liquidity and optimal strike prices 3. Present simplified choices to users ("Safe: 8% APY" vs "Aggressive: 15% APY") 4. Execute the matched order on-chain via our vault contracts Users never see the complexity. They just pick a strategy and watch their yield grow.
