Innovative Web3 Skill Exchange Platform
"Empowering learners and mentors through tokenized skill exchange, where knowledge meets rewards in a decentralized ecosystem."
About
The problem it solves ### The Problem It Solves The Skill Exchange Platform addresses the following challenges: Lack of motivation and incentives for learning: Traditional learning platforms often fail to motivate users by offering tangible rewards. This project leverages a tokenized system to reward users for completing courses, which increases engagement and motivation. Limited access to mentorship: Aspiring learners often struggle to find quality mentorship. This platform connects learners with mentors in a decentralized manner, making it easier to find experienced guides for personal or professional growth. Centralized platforms with high fees: Traditional educational platforms charge high fees for accessing courses and mentorship. The Skill Exchange Platform reduces these barriers by utilizing blockchain technology and tokens, ensuring low-cost access to knowledge and resources. Lack of transparency and security in course completion tracking: With the use of blockchain, the Skill Exchange Platform provides a transparent and immutable record of a user's completed courses, ensuring that achievements and rewards are secure and verifiable.
How it's made
Challenges we ran into Challenges We Ran Into During the development of the Skill Exchange Platform, we faced several challenges, each of which required creative problem-solving to overcome: 1. Integrating Blockchain for Rewards System Challenge: Initially, we had trouble integrating the token rewards system using blockchain. The smart contract for minting tokens, tracking completed courses, and rewarding users was more complex than anticipated, especially when managing user interactions securely. Solution: We leveraged the OpenZeppelin library to ensure safe and efficient implementation of the ERC-20 token standard. After testing the smart contract thoroughly on test networks, we deployed the contract on the main network. We also used middleware to track the completed courses and reward tokens accordingly. 2. Cross-Platform Data Syncing Challenge: Syncing data between the frontend React app and backend Node.js server was a bit tricky, particularly with real-time data like course completions and wallet balances. Users needed up-to-date information without the need to refresh the page. Solution: We used Socket.IO for real-time communication between the frontend and backend, which allowed us to keep the user interface updated in real-time without constant page reloads. We also integrated Redux for global state management to handle course and user data. 3. Handling Tokens and Smart Contract Transactions Challenge: Interacting with the blockchain via smart contracts involved working with Ethereum and handling gas fees, transaction statuses, and errors. Making sure the platform provided accurate feedback to the user regarding the transaction's success or failure was crucial. Solution: We integrated Web3.js for connecting the frontend with Ethereum, ensuring that all user transactions were smooth. We also handled possible transaction failures and notified users appropriately through real-time notifications. 4. Dealing with CORS and Backend API Issues Challenge: We encountered issues with
