    FirstSeed

Making plant seed supply chains more transparent and resilient to middleman alterations and at the same time build end user trust with lower consumer prices.

    About

The problem it solves Currently, there is not a well defined market for seeds available in rural or urban areas. Farmers have to rely on trusted middle men to bring them quality seeds. This holds true even for hobbyist planters in urban areas where the problem is even more pronounced due to complex distribution pipelines. I believe a blockchain based supply chain would be an excellent solution to this problem. This is because with a blockchain solution automatically an inherent trust based system is created which can be difficult for middle men to take advantage of. The idea is to develop a token based dApp which will consist of 2 smart contracts - one to handle payments and transactions at each meeting point for any 2 participant in the supply chain. The second part will handle asset management which are the seeds in this case.

    How it's made

Challenges we ran into One challenge was to formulate the digital verification system for the physical assets , that is, plant seeds that are being transported. I had to do a little research to understand what properties of plant seeds are immutable and can be made into a tracking utitlity to gaurantee the quality of seeds reaching end user.
