FIR
Secure, transparent, and immutable FIR submissions on the blockchain
About
The problem it solves Transparency: FIR records are immutable and stored on the Ethereum blockchain. Security: Only the FIR owner or contract owner can view or update the FIR's status. Efficiency: Direct digital submissions eliminate paperwork, speeding up the process. Accountability: Clear tracking of FIR status from submission to resolution.
How it's made
Challenges we ran into Data Privacy: Storing personal data on a public blockchain raises privacy concerns. We overcame this by limiting visible data to authorized users, using wallet addresses for authentication. Gas Costs: Deploying and interacting with smart contracts on Ethereum mainnet can be expensive. We addressed this by using the Polygon Mumbai Testnet, offering lower transaction fees and faster confirmations. Access Control: Ensuring only authorized users (FIR owners and contract owners) can access or modify FIR details required robust access control logic. Implementing role-based restrictions helped enforce secure operations. User Experience: Bridging blockchain technology with a user-friendly interface was challenging. We developed a clear, intuitive web interface to make the system accessible to users unfamiliar with blockchain.
