DivitaNet
Secure, decentralized, and ephemeral file sharing with reward mechanisms.
About
The problem it solves Current cloud storage solutions are centralized, expensive, and vulnerable to censorship and security breaches. DivitaNet provides a decentralized alternative where users can securely share files with an expiry mechanism, ensuring data is not permanently stored unnecessarily. Users can also set access-based micropayments, enabling a new model for content monetization. User Interaction and Data Flow 1. File Upload: Users upload files via the frontend. The files are encrypted and stored on IPFS/Filecoin. 2. File Expiry & Access Rules: Users set expiry times and define access policies, including optional micropayments via Ethereum smart contracts. 3. Sharing: The system generates a unique access link. If payment is required, the smart contract ensures that the payment is settled before granting access. 4. File Retrieval: When accessed within the validity period, the file is decrypted and delivered. After expiry, the file reference is removed, ensuring data privacy. 5. Rewards System: Users who contribute storage or bandwidth may earn rewards through staking mechanisms. The project architecture and development process 1. Frontend: Next.js/React for a seamless and interactive UI. 2. Storage: IPFS for decentralized, distributed file storage. (Pinata) 3. Smart Contracts: Ethereum-based contracts manage file expiry, access control, and payments. 4. Backend & Middleware: Node.js and Express for handling API requests and interactions with smart contracts. 5. Wallet Integration: MetaMask for user authentication and transactions. 6. Security: End-to-end encryption, smart contract audits, and zero-knowledge proofs for privacy. Product Integrations Ethereum (Smart Contracts for access and payments) Pinata (Decentralized storage) Next.js/React (Frontend framework) MetaMask (User authentication and payments) Node.js & Express (Backend API and middleware) Key differentiators and uniqueness of the project 1. Decentralized & Ephemeral: Unlike traditional cloud storage, files are not permanently stored, reducing unnecessary data accumulation. 2. Automated Expiry: Files self-destruct after the set time, ensuring privacy and security. 3. Optional Monetization: Users can set micro-fees for access, introducing a novel revenue model. 4. User-Controlled Encryption: Ensures only intended recipients can access shared files. 5. Interoperable with Web3 Apps: Can integrate with other decentralized apps for expanded functionality. Trade-offs and shortcuts while building Gas Fees: Ethereum transactions can be costly, so we are considering Layer 2 scaling solutions (e.g., Arbitrum or zkSync). Storage Costs: Filecoin is cost-efficient, but retrieval speed varies. Future iterations may use hybrid storage approaches. UX Complexity: While decentralization enhances security, onboarding new users unfamiliar with Web3 may be challenging. We are implementing guided tutorials and UI improvements. Smart Contract Audits: Due to time constraints, we may initially launch without third-party audits but plan to conduct them post-hackathon. Photo Displaying: There is a small error when displaying the photograph, on clicking the photograph it is visible. Live: There is some issue in github pages which doesn't allow me to go live the site, but i had attached all necessary files for it.
