    Empowering Trust in Decentralized Documents

    Demo

    About

The problem it solves In today's digital world, traditional document management systems encounter challenges like security vulnerabilities, single points of failure, and lack of trust. Fake credentials and tampered documents undermine trust and credibility. **DegChain** powered by blockchain technology, provides a robust and tamper-proof platform for managing sensitive documents securely. It ensures the integrity, security, and ownership verification of uploaded documents, empowering users with trust in their digital assets. **How DegChain Makes a Difference:** - **Secure Document Management:** DegChain utilizes blockchain's immutability and decentralization to ensure that documents remain tamper-proof and verifiable, safeguarding against fraudulent activities. - **Decentralized Storage:** Documents are stored on a decentralized network, reducing the risk of data loss or single points of failure. - **Real-World Applications:** DegChain can be used for various purposes, including academic credentials, certifications, medical records, intellectual property rights, and more. - **Enhanced Trustworthiness:** By leveraging blockchain, DegChain boosts the overall trustworthiness of document management, instilling confidence in users and institutions. - **Streamlined Processes:** With automated smart contract executions, DegChain simplifies and accelerates document registration, storage, retrieval, and verification. In a nutshell, **DegChain** empowers trust in decentralized documents, providing a secure and efficient solution for document management, verification, and ownership in an increasingly digital and interconnected world.

    How it's made

Challenges we ran into During the development of **DegChain**, we encountered several hurdles that tested our problem-solving skills and adaptability. Here are some specific challenges and how we overcame them: 1. **Compatibility Issues in the Web3 Space:** The rapidly evolving and diverse web3 space presented compatibility issues when integrating various SDKs and UIkits. To tackle this, we wisely chose the latest scaffold_eth template, which offered better compatibility and a more stable development environment. 2. **Slower Document Retrieval from IPFS:** Uploading documents to IPFS is a fantastic feature, but we faced occasional delays in document retrieval. To address this, we optimized our code and implemented caching mechanisms to reduce retrieval times, providing users with a smoother experience. 3. **Comprehensive Testing of Smart Contracts:** Integrating the frontend with the smart contracts required rigorous testing to ensure seamless functionality. We opted for the chai+mocha testing framework on the Hardhat development platform, enabling thorough unit tests and ensuring the reliability of the entire system. Despite the challenges, our team's dedication and innovative approach allowed us to overcome these hurdles successfully.
