Why are you participating for Based Africa? We're excited to participate in the Base Buildathon for Africa because it aligns perfectly with our mission to make blockchain technology accessible to everyone. Our goal is to empower individuals through quality education, filling the talent gap by providing hands-on training in decentralized technologies. We also want to promote financial inclusion by teaching people how to use decentralized finance (DeFi) systems to improve their financial access. Building on the Base blockchain allows us to reach more users at lower costs, and the hackathon gives us a chance to showcase our prototype and gather valuable feedback. Plus, we're eager to create a unique reward system that recognizes learners' achievements with Soulbound Tokens (SBTs). Overall, our participation is about contributing to the digital transformation in Africa and helping individuals take control of their digital and financial futures. Additional Features DeChange currently supports web browsers, with plans to make the platform compatible with all devices after the hackathon. Our focus going forward will be on these additional features: 1. Blockchain Credentialing and NFTs: Learners will receive blockchain-verified certificates (fungible tokens) upon course completion. These NFTs will represent skills and credentials, verifiable on-chain, and can be shared with employers, Web3 projects, or freelancing platforms. 2. DeFi and DAO Projects: Learners can contribute to real-world decentralized projects through DeChange, earning rewards and governance tokens for their participation. The platform will also host decentralized finance (DeFi) applications, including staking pools for token holders and participants. 3. AI-Personalized Courses: Improved personalized courses that cater to all learner levels, whether a beginner or a seasoned OG. 4. Credential Marketplace: The demand for credentials will rise as their use cases lead to valuable rewards. The marketplace will provide equal access for everyone. 5. Rewards Distribution: Projects will be able to incentivize their communities with their own tokens, using various reward metrics to encourage participation. 6. User Personal Dashboard: We are completing the development of personalized dashboards for all users. This will provide a neatly organized interface where users can track their courses, progress, credentials, and rewards in one place, ensuring a seamless and customized experience on the platform.

What challenges are you focusing on? We are addressing several key challenges as we build our platform. Our goal is to bridge the talent gap in Africa and the global market by providing accessible blockchain education, equipping people with the skills needed for jobs in this growing field. We're also promoting financial inclusion by ensuring that everyone, especially the underbanked, can access essential financial services through decentralized technologies. Additionally, we are focused on creating hands-on learning experiences that link theory with real-world applications. To make learning more engaging, we’re developing a reward system that recognizes users’ achievements. These efforts are crucial for empowering individuals and communities as we drive the adoption of blockchain and decentralized technologies across Africa. How does your submission address this challenge? Our submission tackles the challenges of blockchain education, talent development, and financial inclusion by creating a hands-on learning platform for individuals worldwide. We offer engaging courses that teach practical skills in blockchain and decentralized technologies, helping users prepare for job opportunities. To promote financial inclusion, we integrate decentralized finance (DeFi) concepts into our lessons, showing learners how to access financial services that traditional banks often overlook. We also have a unique reward system that recognizes users' achievements with Soulbound Tokens (SBTs), giving them proof of their skills and keeping them motivated. Overall, our goal is to empower individuals and communities everywhere with the knowledge and tools they need to succeed in the digital economy. Challenges we ran into One of the major challenges we faced was the limited time we had to ideate and build our project. At one point, we got stuck trying to integrate email logins into the platform, as well as store and track user activities, course progress, and material uploads. Our goal was to keep everything decentralized while ensuring smooth user interaction on the blockchain. Integrating our smart contracts with the frontend code was particularly challenging because we lacked prior experience. Additionally, we were unable to fully develop our practical environment, which would have facilitated blockchain interactions and made it easier to incorporate APIs from other projects to improve the user experience. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, we couldn’t fully implement these features.
