COSAV — Commitment Saving Protocol
On-chain daily commitment saving
About
The problem it solves **The Financial Discipline Gap in Web3 & Emerging Markets** Most financial products assume humans are rational. In reality, humans are inconsistent. People don’t fail to save because they lack income or access — they fail because **there is no system that enforces discipline**. Traditional finance relies on motivation, reminders, and self-control. Web3 relies on trustless execution — but still assumes disciplined users. **This gap between human behavior and financial systems is the real problem.** **COSAV is not a savings app.** **COSAV is a behavioral finance protocol** that turns financial discipline into enforceable on-chain infrastructure. Instead of relying on motivation, COSAV enforces commitment using smart contracts: ● Users lock funds upfront, creating immediate commitment pressure ● Daily on-chain check-ins transform saving into a habit, not a decision ● Transparent penalties leverage loss aversion when commitments are broken ● All rules are enforced entirely by smart contracts ● No intermediaries, no banks, no KYC, no human discretion ● Funds and logic are immutable and globally permissionless **COSAV shifts saving from motivation-based behavior to enforceable commitment.** **Why Lisk** Daily commitment systems are impossible on high-fee blockchains. COSAV is built on Lisk because low fees make **daily financial behavior economically viable**. COSAV positions Lisk not just as a scalable blockchain — but as a **daily financial habit chain**. **From Individuals to Infrastructure** COSAV is designed for: ✔ Individuals building long-term financial discipline ✔ Communities running commitment challenges ✔ DAOs enforcing contribution or saving behavior ✔ Organizations creating behavioral finance programs **COSAV turns discipline into infrastructure.** **Revenue Model** COSAV is designed as a sustainable Web3 venture, not an experiment. The protocol generates revenue through: ➤ **Penalty-based protocol fees** from failed commitments ➤ **Yield strategies** applied to locked capital during commitment periods ➤ **B2B and community programs** for DAOs, organizations, and institutions ➤ **White-labeled commitment systems** for behavioral finance initiatives **Every broken commitment generates protocol value.** This model aligns incentives: users gain discipline, and the protocol grows sustainably.
How it's made
Challenges we ran into **Challenges I Ran Into** Building COSAV exposed both technical and infrastructure challenges: **1. Lisk Sepolia RPC instability** Explorer and RPC endpoints occasionally returned 500 or DNS errors. This was mitigated by enabling Sourcify verification, storing full artifacts, and tuning gas configurations. **2. Hardhat deployment issues** Unsupported Node versions, gas misconfigurations, and nonce conflicts required custom Hardhat optimization and explicit gas control. **3. Smart contract verification reliability** Explorer verification was inconsistent, so full constructor parameters and build metadata were provided for manual verification. **4. Commitment logic & penalty safety** Designing a fair check-in window (12h minimum, 48h maximum), handling penalties, and preventing reentrancy required careful contract architecture. Despite these challenges, COSAV is **fully deployed, verified, documented, and production-ready.**
