CHORUS
CHORUS is a decentralized platform designed to streamline and democratize access to educational scholarships for underserved African communities
About
Why are you participating for Based Africa? I'm participating in Based Africa because of my passion for leveraging blockchain technology to solve real-world problems, particularly in regions where innovation can create significant social impact. Africa, with its rapidly growing tech scene and challenges in areas like education and finance, is ripe for disruption through decentralized technologies. My connection to the region comes from working on projects like CHORUS, aimed at democratizing educational funding for underserved African communities through blockchain and DeFi. By participating in Based Africa, I aim to contribute to building sustainable, decentralized solutions that empower local communities and drive economic growth.
How it's made
What challenges are you focusing on? Access to Education Funding: Many students in underserved African communities face barriers to accessing scholarships and educational resources. Through CHORUS, I aim to streamline the scholarship application process and connect students directly with donors, ensuring transparency and reducing administrative overhead. Limited Financial Inclusion: Many African individuals lack access to traditional banking services, making it difficult for them to participate in digital economies. My projects utilize blockchain technology to facilitate cryptocurrency transactions, allowing more people to engage in financial activities securely. Youth Engagement and Empowerment: Africa has a rapidly growing, increasingly tech-savvy youth population. I aim to harness this potential by providing innovative platforms that empower young people to access educational opportunities and participate in the digital economy. Challenges we ran into Technical Challenges: Integration with Blockchain Issue: Difficulty in seamlessly integrating blockchain technology and ensuring secure interactions with smart contracts. Solution: Researched blockchain frameworks, selected Ethereum, and used libraries like Hardhat for development and testing, while engaging with online communities for troubleshooting.
