About
The problem it solves Chloe's Crafty Pom Poms demonstrates how tokenisation (interactive tokens) can solve fundamental challenges in the e-commerce ecosystem. Tech: ERC-5169 and TokenScript make PowPow tokens interactive, embedding Shipping, Refund, and Listing functions directly within the token. This portability allows seamless integration with third-party wallets, marketplaces and etc., enhancing functionality and user experience across various platforms. Business: - Accessibility Barriers: Traditional e-commerce excludes young entrepreneurs due to KYC and banking requirements. Our interactive tokens enable participation without these barriers. - Fragmented User Experience: Current Dapp absed e-commerce platforms offer disconnected processes. Our token based solution unifies the entire commerce journey, from discovery to post-purchase, in a single, interoperable system. - Limited Product Representation: Static digital listings fail to capture the dynamic nature of products. Our interactive tokens transform products into responsive digital assets. - Opaque Supply Chains: Conventional systems lack transparency. We provide a clear, auditable record of a product's lifecycle, from creation to delivery. - Inflexible Monetization: Traditional models restrict revenue streams. Our interactive tokens enable novel approaches like automated royalties and revenue distribution. - Centralized Trust Mechanisms: E-commerce typically relies on platform trust. We shift trust to blockchain and smart contracts, enabling secure peer-to-peer transactions. - Cross-Platform Limitations: Products and user data are usually confined to single platforms. Our interactive tokens allow seamless movement across different marketplaces and applications. By addressing these issues through Chloe's use case, we demonstrate how tokenisation (interactive tokens) can make e-commerce more efficient, transparent, and inclusive, adapting it to emerging Web3 paradigms.
How it's made
Challenges we ran into High level Challenges: How to ensure the portability of functions like "Ship Pom Pom/ List Pom Pom/Refund Pom Pom/etc." with the Chloe’s Crafty Pom Poms Ownership NFT. We overcame this by implementing ERC-5169 and TokenScript, which allows for rich functionality to be embedded within the NFT itself. We call it an interactive NFT. Detailed Challenges: They were mostly internal! In building a project of this interactive complexity we pushed our internal tools and found a collection of small issues that were required to be fixed in short order. Here's a list of some issues we had: - the build tool was not recognising some HTML directives that hadn't been used before. - the build tool's error reporting requires some update (in build tools good error reporting is quite difficult). - the server we built to interpret our scripting language couldn't handle some input methods required by the project. So in creating the hack we had 2 lines of frantic effort - the first was the actual hack itself, along with all the design and testing required, the second was working on the tools themselves to fix the issues the hack exposed in those. It has been a valuable exercise in many ways 🙂 The tools I used to build the project performed excellently as always: - Visual Studio Code + Nomic foundation Solidity plugin. - Remix for rapid prototyping and testing. - Hardhat for contract verification, test harness and deterministic deployment. - 4byte directory for error checking. - Pinata for IPFS pinning. - Base Sepolia for rapid deployment and awesome gas fees.
