Why are you participating for Based Africa? Our motivation stems from a deep connection to the African continent and a desire to leverage technology to address critical healthcare challenges. By participating in Based Africa, we aim to showcase how blockchain can transform healthcare delivery, ensuring transparency, security, and accessibility for all. Additional Features During the Buildathon, we added a feature that allows patients to grant temporary access to their medical records to healthcare providers using smart contracts. This ensures that patient data remains private and secure while being accessible when needed. The telemedicine dApp also allows patients to schedule and conduct remote consultations securely.

How it's made

What challenges are you focusing on? We are addressing the challenges of medical record management, counterfeit medications, and lack of transparency in the healthcare system. These issues lead to inefficiencies, mistrust, and poor health outcomes in our community. How does your submission address this challenge? ChainMedics utilizes blockchain technology to create a secure, immutable ledger for medical records and help with data fragmentation of patient records, ensuring that patient data is accurate and accessible only to authorized personnel. Our platform also tracks the supply chain of medications, preventing the distribution of counterfeit drugs. By enhancing transparency and security, we aim to build trust and improve healthcare outcomes. Additionally, we're incorporating a telemedicine dApp to enable secure and verified remote healthcare services, enhancing accessibility and convenience for patients. Telemedicine reduces wait times, eliminates the need for in-person visits for non-critical consultations, and ensures that patient data is secure and only accessible to authorized personnel. Challenges we ran into One of the significant hurdles we faced was integrating blockchain technology with existing healthcare systems. We overcame this by developing custom APIs that facilitate seamless data exchange. Additionally, we encountered resistance from stakeholders unfamiliar with blockchain, which we addressed through comprehensive education and demonstration sessions. Access to technical team was a Herculean task but fortunately we've come this far.
