    About

The problem it solves # ChainGuard DeFi ChainGuard DeFi is a revolutionary decentralized lending platform that combines Chainlink Price Feeds, Chainlink Automation, and Decentralized Identity (DID) verification to create the future of secure, transparent, and fully automated DeFi lending. ## 🔗 CHAINLINK INTEGRATION (CORE REQUIREMENT MET) ✅ **Chainlink Price Feeds**: Real-time USDC, ETH, and BTC price data for verification and calculations ✅ **Chainlink Automation**: Automated interest rate updates and position monitoring ✅ **STATE CHANGES**: Our smart contract makes actual blockchain state changes based on Chainlink data ## 🌟 KEY INNOVATIONS - **DID Verification with Market Conditions**: Users can only verify when USDC ≥ $0.99 (using Chainlink price feeds) - **Dynamic Interest Rates**: Borrowing rates adjust automatically based on ETH price movements via Chainlink - **Automated Risk Management**: Real-time position updates and liquidation monitoring - **Emergency Mode**: Automatic fallback when price feeds become unreliable ## 🛠 TECHNICAL STACK - **Smart Contracts**: Solidity with Chainlink AggregatorV3Interface and AutomationCompatibleInterface - **Frontend**: React 18 + RainbowKit + Wagmi + Tailwind CSS - **Network**: Ethereum Sepolia Testnet - **Deployment**: Vercel (Frontend) + Sepolia (Smart Contract) ## 💡 REAL-WORLD IMPACT ChainGuard DeFi solves critical DeFi problems: unreliable price data, lack of identity verification, and manual operations. By leveraging Chainlink's decentralized oracle network, we create a truly autonomous lending platform that's secure, transparent, and accessible. ## 🎯 CHAINLINK SERVICES USED 1. **Price Feeds (USDC/USD, ETH/USD, BTC/USD)** - For verification, collateral valuation, and rate calculations 2. **Automation** - For automated interest rate updates and system maintenance 3. **All integrations make actual state changes on the blockchain**, meeting hackathon requirements The platform is live, fully functional, and demonstrates the power of combining multiple Chainlink services to create next-generation DeFi applications.

    How it's made

Challenges we ran into ## Chainlink Price Feed Staleness on Testnet **Challenge**: Chainlink price feeds on Sepolia testnet don't update as frequently as mainnet, causing "Price data stale" errors in my smart contract. **Solution**: I made the staleness threshold configurable (24 hours for testnet vs 1 hour for mainnet) and added try-catch blocks for graceful error handling when price data is unavailable. ## 🌐 Web3 Integration Complexity **Challenge**: Connecting React frontend with multiple Web3 libraries (Wagmi, RainbowKit, Ethers.js) while handling network switching and transaction states was complex. **Solution**: Created a centralized contract interaction pattern with proper error handling and loading states for all blockchain operations. ## 📱 Mobile Responsiveness **Challenge**: Making the data-heavy dashboard work well on mobile devices while showing price feeds, user stats, and interactive elements. **Solution**: Used CSS Grid with responsive breakpoints and simplified the mobile layout to prioritize core functionality. ## 🛡️ Smart Contract Error Handling **Challenge**: Ensuring the contract works properly when Chainlink price feeds return invalid data or are temporarily unavailable. **Solution**: Added comprehensive validation, emergency modes, and meaningful error messages to handle edge cases gracefully. ## ⏰ Time Management **Challenge**: Building a full DeFi platform with multiple Chainlink services, professional UI, and documentation within the hackathon timeline. **Solution**: Focused on core functionality first (DID verification + lending), then added polish and advanced features. Prioritized working demo over perfect code.
