    Block-Ride

A decentralized ride-sharing platform connecting riders and drivers for secure, automated escrow payments and transparent journeys. With smart contracts and QuickNode streams and function integrations

    About

The problem it solves ### Challenges with Traditional Ride-Sharing Current ride-sharing services suffer from: - **High Fees**: Centralized platforms take large commissions, reducing driver income and increasing rider costs. - **Lack of Trust**: Users rely on a central authority to set fares and manage disputes. - **Data Privacy Risks**: Centralized platforms store personal data, making it vulnerable to breaches. ### Solution: Decentralized Ride-Sharing Platform Our platform addresses these problems by leveraging blockchain for a transparent, secure, and efficient ride-sharing experience. Here’s how it makes ride-sharing better: 1. **Reduced Fees & Fairer Earnings** - Blockchain removes intermediaries, so **drivers keep more earnings**, and **riders enjoy lower costs**. 2. **Smart Contracts for Transparency** - Every ride agreement, including fare calculation, is managed by **immutable smart contracts**. This means **guaranteed pricing, no hidden fees**, and a fully trustless system, building confidence for both riders and drivers. Also Supports Automated Escrow Payment feature. ### Use Cases - **Daily Commutes**: Riders get affordable fares without high booking fees, while drivers benefit from fair, consistent earnings. - **Support for Independent Drivers**: Drivers seeking freedom from centralized control can use this platform to maximize their income and manage their services independently. ### Summary Our decentralized ride-sharing platform delivers **low fees, high transparency, data security, and reliability**. It empowers both riders and drivers through blockchain, creating a fair, resilient, and privacy-focused alternative to traditional ride-sharing models.

    How it's made

Challenges we ran into ## Challenges I Ran Into Building the decentralized ride-sharing platform presented several challenges that required innovative problem-solving. Here are some specific hurdles I encountered during development: ### 1. Smart Contract Complexity One of the biggest challenges was creating smart contracts that accurately calculated fares based on various parameters such as distance, time, and user feedback. Initially, I faced difficulties with the logic, resulting in incorrect fare estimates and potential security vulnerabilities. **Solution:** To address this, I broke down the smart contract functions into smaller, manageable functions. I wrote comprehensive test cases to simulate different ride scenarios and edge cases. ### 2. Data Handling and Privacy Implementing a decentralized architecture meant that data management needed to be secure and efficient. I faced challenges in ensuring user data privacy while allowing necessary information to be shared between riders and drivers. **Solution:** I researched various decentralized storage solutions but opted for Supabase for data storage. I implemented encryption methods to secure sensitive information, ensuring that only authorized parties could access it during transactions. ### 3. Integrating QuickNode Integrating QuickNode's services, such as Streams and Functions, proved to be challenging, especially with network configurations and ensuring smooth communication between components. I experienced issues with Quicknode functions runtime enviroment while using web3 package their. **Solution:** I carefully reviewed the documentation and example projects provided by QuickNode. I also connected on quicknode discord channel. ## Conclusion Overcoming these challenges not only improved my problem-solving skills but also deepened my understanding of blockchain technology, smart contract development, Quicknode Ecosystem and decentralized application architecture.
