How it's made
Challenges we ran into Problem: We discovered Stripe’s fiat-to-crypto onramp service, which seemed like an ideal solution. However, Stripe isn’t supported in Nigeria, which made it impossible to use their service for our project. This created a major challenge, as we needed a reliable fiat-to-crypto conversion process to onboard users seamlessly. Solution: To overcome this challenge, we decided to build our own fiat-to-crypto service from scratch. Here’s how we approached it: - Research and Development: We conducted extensive research on existing fiat-to-crypto mechanisms and identified the essential components required to build our own service. - Focus on Ethereum-on-Base: Given our resources and time constraints, we decided to initially support only Ethereum on the Base network. This allowed us to concentrate our efforts and ensure a robust and secure implementation. - Integration and Testing: We developed the service and integrated it with BasePay, followed by rigorous testing to ensure it worked seamlessly and securely for our users. - User Experience: We designed the user flow to be as intuitive as possible, guiding users through the process of converting fiat to Ethereum without needing in-depth technical knowledge. Building our own fiat-to-crypto service not only resolved the issue but also gave us full control over the process, enhancing the overall reliability and security of BasePay. This solution allowed us to continue our mission of providing a seamless crypto payment experience, even in regions where certain services are not available.
