    EduBased

EduBased is a decentralized, onchain-powered database system designed to manage student registration, academic results, and project funding in African Universities.

    About

Why are you participating for Based Africa? Our motivation in the Based Africa buildathon participation stems from the opportunity provided by Base to build innovative solution connected to our local region and also our deep belief in the revolution that onchain technology can address critical challenges in Africa education system. As University graduates from Nigerian, a region in Western Africa, we have witnessed firsthand the challenges that many students face in the institution, particularly regarding inefficiencies and the lack of transparency in academic result management. Academic results has been termed "Missing" or even "altered" which has led to delays in student graduation (taking extra years in higher institution), inability to apply for scholarships, grants, postgraduate programs, or even extra payment all through the extra year. We have seen the transformative power of onchain technologies with application like Onboard, Farcaster, and Zora. Our focus on using onchain technology for secure result management and decentralized project funding aligns with our motivation to build innovative solution in the Africn Education System. We are excited by the opportunity to apply onchain technologies to solve real-world problems in education. The education sector in Africa is at a pivotal moment where innovative solutions are needed to overcome long-standing barriers like result tampering, lost records, and inequitable access to project funding. By participating in Based Africa, We are contributing to a project that can create a lasting impact, improving transparency and accountability in higher education institutions across the region. We are inspired by the theme of Base buildathon which is building innovative solution that solves a problem in your locality. This project allow us to bring the education sector onchain beyond educating individual about blockchain technology.

    How it's made

What challenges are you focusing on? 1. One of the major challenges faced in educational institutions, especially in Africa, is the lack of transparency in academic result management. Issues like missing, altered, or disputed results undermine trust in the academic system. By leveraging blockchain technology with Base, we aim to address this problem by creating a tamper-proof, decentralized result management system that ensures once records are entered, they cannot be changed. This builds trust between students and institutions. 2. Many students struggle to secure funding for innovative projects, particularly in regions where financial resources are scarce. Base helps decentralize the funding process through a DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization), allowing students to pitch their ideas and secure funding directly from the community, promoting student-driven innovation and development. 3. Current systems for course registration, result review, and project proposal submissions are often cumbersome and inefficient, leading to administrative bottlenecks. With Base, we are introducing a streamlined, onchain system that automates these processes, reducing human error, cutting down on administrative time, and enhancing the overall student experience. How does your submission address this challenge? Our submission addresses the challenge by leveraging Base’s blockchain technology to create a transparent, efficient, and decentralized platform that tackles three key issues in education: unreliable result records, limited access to funding for student projects, and inefficient academic processes. 1. Transparency and Trust in Result Management: By using blockchain's immutable ledger through Base, academic results are stored in a tamper-proof manner, ensuring that students' grades cannot be altered or manipulated. This restores trust in educational institutions, addressing concerns about the integrity of academic records, particularly in regions where corruption or errors are prevalent. 2. Access to Decentralized Funding: The submission includes a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) that allows students to present their projects and ideas directly to a global community of backers. This bypasses traditional barriers to funding, enabling students—especially those from underfunded institutions or communities—to access financial support and bring their ideas to life, promoting innovation and entrepreneurship. 3. Increased Efficiency in Academic Processes: By automating processes like course registration, result verification, and project proposal submissions on Base, our solution eliminates human error and reduces administrative delays. This creates a more efficient academic system, saving time for both students and institutions while increasing the accuracy and reliability of educational operations. Challenges we ran into 1. Consolidating Governance Contract 2. Limited Time 3. Difficulty getting Base name due to restriction
