The problem it solves ## The Problem It Solves ### The Trust Crisis in Restaurant Reviews 🔍 Restaurant discovery and review platforms today face significant challenges with trust and authenticity. Centralized platforms like Yelp or Google Reviews struggle with: - **Fake reviews** flooding platforms and misleading diners - **Rating manipulation** by business owners or competitors - **Opaque filtering algorithms** that can unfairly impact businesses - **Content ownership issues** where valuable user-generated content becomes platform property ### BaseBites: Blockchain-Powered Authenticity ⛓️ BaseBites addresses these fundamental issues by leveraging blockchain technology on Base: - **On-chain reviews** create immutable, verifiable records of authentic dining experiences - **Tamper-proof system** prevents manipulation or deletion by platform owners or restaurants - **Wallet-linked reviews** significantly raise the barrier for creating fake or duplicate content - **User ownership** ensures creators retain rights to their valuable contributions ### Aligned Incentives for Better Content 🏅 Our NFT reward system solves the incentive problem through direct recognition: - **Value distribution** to content creators rather than just platform owners - **Compensation for quality** through exclusive NFTs for top contributors - **Incentive alignment** encourages higher quality, more frequent reviews - **Transparent ecosystem** where restaurant owners can engage directly with loyal customers By rebuilding the restaurant review experience on blockchain fundamentals, BaseBites creates a more trustworthy, equitable, and valuable platform for diners and restaurants alike.

    How it's made

Challenges we ran into Challenges I ran into include using some portions of OnChainKit specifically the wagmi sections and configuration which caused me to look through other resources where they have other implementations of transactions and connecting wallets using base allowing me to overcome these challenges. I had some issues actually with packages and imports that were resolved through other projects and version control. In the end the smaller restaurant feature issues were not resolved for the creation of a restaurant on my end within the UI so I used command line tools to deploy restaurants on chain using my contract, this was due to smaller issues I had with documentation and implementation specifically using vercel it was harder to do quickly with other AI tools.
