Base Talents
Onchain builders app
About
Why are you participating for Based Africa? Participating in Base Africa gives us opportunity to get awareness and bring more builders from Africa onchain. We also want a chance at winning so we can bootstrap this project. As Africans, we understand the need of the society. And that is making a living and getting jobs. The biggest export out of Africa currently are its youthful and energetic talents. Base and the Based Africa Buildathon can give us the platform and opportunity to thrive. So we are highly motivated to build and submit our project.
How it's made
What challenges are you focusing on? It's still difficult for most builders in Nigeria and Africa to contribute to the onchain economy in app developments and tasks. There's quite a number of bounties and job opportunities onchain but they are not easy to find or contribute to. Talents are equally distributed but opportunities are not as people struggle to make a living or contribute to the ecosystem in their own way. An initiative like this will influence the onchain adoption and encourage people to learn about projects in the base ecosystem. How does your submission address this challenge? It's a job/bounty board for African builders to complete bounties from other onchain companies and earn. We want to connect builders in Nigeria and Africa to those bounties and job opportunities onchain by building an onchain builder app. Base Talents hopes to match builders with bounties according to their skill set. We are going to actively approach teams to outsource their tasks as bounties on our platform. The platform currently provides an environment that may likely become the largest gateway to African builders for any teams looking to hire, gain their first users or drive engagements through tasks. Challenges we ran into We ran into difficulties when trying to render the bounties from the API, it took a while for us to get it sorted out. We also tried integrating farcaster by building a farcaster bot to draw bounties but we couldn't continue because we couldn't afford neynar's API Keys. So we decided to use what we could afford now. We built it manually so users have to register via our frontend and post bounties using our escrow contract to store submission rewards. We hope to be able to integrate farcaster if we win and get funded.
