Audiato by Songcamp
A chill place to post, share and mint music on Zora.
About
The problem it solves We love Zora. We wanted a chill place that puts Zora music first. Audiato is a simple instance of Zora that allows users to post, mint and share music on Base. Its distinct features are that of a persistent music player that allows you to stream songs as you navigate around the site, as well as an incredibly simple Create flow that abstracts away all token parameters from the creator. When a song is posted through our app, a new Zora contract on Base is automatically created under the hood with Token ID 1 as that song. A 30-day open edition mint priced at the Zora Mint Fee is also initiated. This allows musicians to simply upload their music, cover artwork, song name and hit create - that’s it! Our minimal UI’s design also allows the music and its cover artwork to have center stage. We’ve created super sleek and simple standalone mint pages for each song, making it all about the music and cover art. Finally, our app has minting and commenting integrated natively, so don’t forget to $enjoy!
How it's made
Challenges we ran into One of the conceptual challenges we ran into was deciding how prescriptive the creation experience would be. Zora Protocol has all kinds of options; different mint settings, durations, payment tokens, etc. Despite having all of these options available, we decided to give musicians as few decisions as possible to eliminate as much friction as possible. We hope this encourages artists to mint more often, with less of a pressure to only mint their masterpieces. On the technical side, we had some challenges navigating the nuances of the Zora Protocol, its contract factories, and the rather opaque parameters required to use them. Specifically, Zora's ERC-1155 contract factory requires 'set-up actions'. These are sets of encoded instructions which are executed upon contract creation. Despite our challenges in figuring out exactly how these setup actions needed to be structured, with enough trial and error (and a good amount of time examining example transactions on basescan) we were able to get contract creation fully functional on Audiato!
