Cherry
Are.na for NFTs. Curated NFT boards that allow you to collect, share, and earn with Zora Protocol Referrals.
About
The problem it solves Cherry is a personal curation frontend for NFTs on Zora, Base and ETH networks. It's a tool to catalog your favorite projects and explore NFT boards curated by users, friends and creators you follow. People can mint NFTs directly from your board, rewarding you with ETH through Zora referral fees. Communities also have access to token-gated boards, allowing only collaborators holding a specific token to contribute (Work in Progress). This makes Cherry not just a space for discovery, but a platform to get rewarded for curation and an activity for communities. Curate & Earn ETH: - Cherry aims to reward curation efforts. When someone mints a Zora project from your board, you will receive a mint referral reward from the Zora Protocol. This ensures that everyone can earn from participating and people can support curators who have introduced them to different works. This is unlike most curation platforms today - where finding the source can be difficult, supporting the artist isn't viable, and curators would not earn. This is a problem Cherry solves with the help of Zora and crypto protocols. Community Curation: - NFTs can be placed into token-gated boards. This draws on the exisiting NFT ecosystems and allows for social curation and the discovery of NFTs as a community. This is a dynamic collaboration list based on your holdings, which replaces needing a waitlist to participate in a group. Personal Discovery: - Individual NFTs often lack context, which can greatly impact perceptions and diminish percieved value. Cherry boards aim to create context and thematic organization. Curated boards can tell a story, highlight an artistic movement, add depth to individual NFTs, and create a connection to an artist. Instead of relying on preset recommendations or trending lists, Cherry encourages personal discovery and curation, allowing you to form your own context and connections.
How it's made
Challenges we ran into Trying to figure out unique features that can distinguish Cherry from other crypto (River.ph/Gallery/Surreal) and non-crypto (Are.na/Pinterest/Tumblr) curation platforms. - Leaning into the capabilities of the Zora protocol and NFT primitives helped generate unique ideas that could be applied to curation. - Zora protocol: People can find the artist directly. If they want to support them, they can mint it and benefit the artist + the curator. - NFTs: Allow for dynamic collaborators (i.e. collaborators holding X tokens can contribute), which has the potential for unique community curating + collecting activity.
