About
The problem it solves Traditional rental systems come with a lot of problems, such as: Trust Issues: Renting items without a clear, transparent system often leads to security concerns for both renters and owners. Inefficiencies and Hidden Fees: Manual processes and the involvement of middlemen can result in unexpected costs and delays that frustrate users. Lack of Accountability: It can be difficult to ensure items are returned on time and in good condition, especially without a clear way to track them.
How it's made
Challenges we ran into Integrating Blockchain: Integrating the Aptos blockchain into the platform was one of the biggest challenges. While blockchain offers immense power and security, we needed to balance it with a user-friendly experience that didn’t overwhelm non-technical users. We wanted blockchain's benefits without complicating the user journey. Wallet Functionality: We needed a secure and easy-to-use wallet solution, which led us to integrate Petra Wallet. Making it simple for users to connect their wallets, manage their assets, and interact with the blockchain was key, but ensuring its security and ease of use was tricky. Smart Contracts: Developing efficient smart contracts that would automate rental agreements, payments, and escrow was another significant challenge. We had to make sure the smart contracts worked seamlessly, securely, and without human intervention, while also protecting against potential vulnerabilities. NFT Ownership Tracking: Using NFTs to represent ownership for the rental items was a unique approach. We needed to ensure that the NFTs were temporary, clear, and easy to manage, ensuring the ownership and rental rights were properly tracked throughout the rental period.
