About
VenekoVox is a privacy-first civic polling platform built around a simple question: how can people express an opinion, prove they are eligible to participate, and trust the counting process without publishing their identity or their choice? The failure mode is identical everywhere — only the coercer changes. Under state repression, dissent is punished and real sentiment cannot be safely measured; under social pressure, the silent majority self-censors while a vocal minority dictates the narrative; and everywhere, bot farms and AI personas poison the polls that shape public opinion. Polls influence policy, yet the instruments we use to measure them reward the loudest and most coerced voices. VenekoVox replaces manufactured consensus with ground-truth conviction. Participants use ZKPassport to prove the attributes required by a poll — one real human, one vote — from their own passport's NFC chip, without revealing their identity. They connect a wallet and submit an encrypted ballot through MACI: no one, not even the operator, can prove how anyone voted, and votes can be re-cast invisibly, which makes bribes and threats unenforceable. Personal document details are never written to the blockchain. ENSv2 makes every poll a named, discoverable on-chain object — our own subname registry turns superintelligence.polls.venekovoxv1.eth into a poll's address, brand and share-link. The Graph indexes public participation into standardized, queryable governance data without exposing ballot choices. Our flagship poll — "Should development of superintelligence be paused?" — is live on Ethereum Sepolia and open to any passport holder, 18+. The prototype has recorded a real-passport eligibility flow, an authorized poll join and an encrypted ballot submission on-chain; completing and demonstrating the proof-verified tally is the next milestone (both live polls close within 24 hours of submission). Longer-term: privacy-preserving demographic analysis and reducing reliance on a single operator. This is a product we intend to keep building — the Polymarket of public sentiment, built for Ethereum.
How it's made
https://deepwiki.com/satojandro/venekovox VenekoVox builds on the open-source MACI codebase, combining a React and TypeScript frontend, Vite, a Node.js/Express backend, Solidity contracts and ethers.js. ZKPassport handles passport-based eligibility proofs. Our integration uses salted uniqueness and strict FaceMatch, with the backend independently verifying proofs against the configured eligibility requirements. After checking wallet control, the backend issues an EIP-712 authorization—a structured, signed permission—which the on-chain eligibility policy validates. An application-specific identity tag supports duplicate-participation checks without placing the raw passport-derived identifier on-chain. This prototype retains an explicit trust dependency on the eligibility issuer. MACI provides the encrypted voting infrastructure and proof-based processing and tally architecture. Voting keys are separate from wallet keys. Our application connects eligibility authorization, poll membership, encrypted ballot publication and transaction verification into one participant journey. The Graph indexes public MACI events and signup state. One particularly useful engineering detail is our indexed membership-proof path: we reconstruct the signup tree, check it against an on-chain historical root, and prepare the participant’s proof against that exact snapshot. This prevents new signups from changing the reference state midway through joining. Validated fallbacks support recovery when an indexing source is unavailable. Our ENSv2 integration adds registration and named-poll discovery through custom registrar/resolver logic. Names are optional public metadata; they neither establish personhood nor contain passport eligibility information. We also built recovery checks that distinguish a submitted transaction from a confirmed action, and ballot rendering that reads each poll’s actual options. VenekoVox’s contribution is the eligibility integration, application contracts, indexed proof service and guided polling experience around the upstream infrastructure.
