About
The problem it solves # 🧩 The Problem It Solves ## Traditional DeFi platforms still struggle with: - 🌐 **Lack of Cross-Chain Interoperability** – Users are siloed within one chain, making liquidity fragmented and movement of assets complex. - 💵 **Centralized Stablecoins** – Many stablecoins are backed or controlled by centralized entities, introducing risk, censorship, and reduced transparency. - 🧱 **Disjointed Experience** – Borrowing, lending, and bridging often require switching between multiple dApps, increasing complexity. - 🔐 **Limited Onchain Verifiability** – Some platforms lack trust-minimized randomness and automation, risking manipulation or failure. - 🎮 **Passive Ecosystems** – DeFi users rarely get rewarded with fun, utility-driven features for active participation. --- ## ✅ How Zephyra Makes It Easier, Safer, and More Engaging Zephyra is a composable, cross-chain DeFi protocol that integrates lending, stablecoin minting, interoperability, and GameFi, all on one seamless platform. ### 🔗 **Cross-Chain by Design** Built with **Chainlink CCIP**, Zephyra allows secure cross-chain transfers of **ZUSD**, starting with transfers between Sepolia and Avalanche Fuji testnets, expanding liquidity and usability across chains. ### 🏦 **Overcollateralized Lending & Stablecoin Minting** Users lock collateral like **WETH** and **WBTC** to mint **ZUSD**, ensuring trustless solvency and capital efficiency. ### 🎮 **Game-Integrated DeFi via NFTs** Users holding a minimum ZUSD balance can participate in a **VRF-powered NFT mini-game**, where the fastest participants have a chance to mint rare Zephyra NFTs during limited rounds, adding fun and exclusivity to the protocol. ### 🔁 **Unified DeFi Flow** Borrow, lend, transfer across chains, and mint NFTs, all through a single, elegant dashboard experience. ### ⚖️ **Decentralized and Transparent** No central parties. All key protocol functions (minting, randomness, automation) run **onchain and auditable**. ### 📊 **Chainlink-Powered Security** Real-time oracles, **Chainlink VRF** for provable randomness, **Automation** for time-based logic, and **Price Feeds** for accurate collateral valuation. --- **Zephyra** isn't just another DeFi app — it's a **next-gen onchain finance layer**, built for security, interoperability, and engagement. Power up your liquidity, unlock gamified yield opportunities, and move confidently across chains with **ZUSD**.
How it's made
Challenges we ran into ## This hackathon pushed me beyond my comfort zone in multiple ways: **Late Entry & Academic Pressure**: I found out about the **Chainlink** hackathon quite late, just as I was preparing for important Exams in school. Balancing intense academic demands with the pressure of shipping a functional decentralized app was incredibly stressful. Many nights I stayed up debugging and studying at the same time, trying not to fall behind in either. **Learning Ethers.js & Web3 Frontend Development**: Coming in, I had almost no experience using Ethers.js. I had to learn how to connect wallets, call smart contract functions, handle reactivity in the UI, and properly deal with blockchain errors all under a tight deadline. It felt like learning how to swim in the deep end of the pool, but it was rewarding. **Chainlink CCIP Integration**: CCIP was particularly challenging. Understanding how to transfer tokens and data across chains, set up the correct router configurations, and properly handle message passing logic was complex. Despite following the docs closely, I ran into issues with token mappings, gas payment flows, and destination contract logic. I’m still working through a few of these hurdles, but I now have a strong foundational understanding of cross-chain design. **Debugging Blind Spots**: At times, the frontend wouldn’t throw errors, just silence. Tracking down issues in contract calls that failed silently (due to missing approvals, wrong addresses, etc.) without clear stack traces was frustrating. Tools like forge console logs, and persistent trial-and-error, helped me gradually piece things together. Despite all of this, I kept showing up every day. I saw the hackathon not just as a competition, but as a challenge to grow. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, and even though my project isn't fully polished yet, I’ve gained real-world experience in **DeFi**, smart contracts, **Chainlink** tools, and cross-chain infrastructure.
