UCTalent - Privacy Professional SocialFi Platform

Unchain global talent by blockchain and you see talent on UCTalent.

    About

Why are you participating for Based SEA? UCTalent is excited to participate in Based SEA, a hackathon hosted on the Base blockchain. We believe that Base's low fees, high throughput, and developer-friendly tools (OnchainKit, Smart Wallet, Basename, etc.) make it an ideal platform for building decentralized applications like ours. By leveraging Base's capabilities, we aim to: 1. Create a scalable and efficient talent marketplace: On-chain. 2. Ensure data privacy and security: Through the use of decentralized technologies. 3. Facilitate seamless transactions: Between talent and employers. 4. Promote transparency and trust: By providing verifiable credentials and ratings. We are confident that our participation in Based SEA will help us advance our mission of connecting global talent and creating a more equitable job market. Additional Features 1. We have built the referral smart contract on Base Sopolia network. 2. We have been developing and releasing the "application tracking system" on UCTalent business site. This tool allows job posters to manage the posted jobs and candidates. Hiring sides will interact with referral smart contract when posting job and mange candidate on the UCTalent application tracking system. Use will use the same account in UCTalent app to login and manage their posted jobs and applicants: https://business.uctalent.io/login 3. We also built the "My Jobs" fuature to allow talents to mange and monitor their applied jobs and job referral. They will claim referral rewards when it is ready to distribute from here. 4. We deploy Alpha environment to https://alpha.uctalent.io/ for testing web3 components on Base Sepolia for creating and depositing referral reward, apply and earn, etc.

    How it's made

What challenges are you focusing on? The challenges we are focusing on is that the rapid rise of web3 and blockchain technologies has created a surge in demand for skilled professionals. Traditional methods like job boards, referral programs, and headhunters, while offering varying degrees of effectiveness and cost, all have limitations: 1.Post jobs on job boards or social professional networks. This is a cost-effective option, but it's time-consuming, usually taking 3-6 months. 2. Implement an internal referral program. This is typically run in parallel with posting jobs on job boards and can attract more qualified candidates. It can take less time to go through the hiring process, but the number of candidates is limited by the number of existing employees. 3. Use headhunters. This option can be scaled with multiple headhunters, making it much faster. However, it costs 15-45% of the hire's annual salary. For the social professional networks like linkedin, recruiters struggle to find and connect with qualified tech talent on LinkedIn due to several limitations in the platform: high costs, crowded & distracting platform, identity confusion, undesirable connections, biased focus, lack of transparency and feedback, privacy concerns, questionable authenticity, non-functional recommendations and superficial reviews. For talents, they have many available opportunities available in their city or country and then most tech talents do not often actively look for jobs. However talents often change jobs which are referred to them by their friends and headhunter or directly approached by hiring recruiters. Technology talents know there is high demand for their talents so that they aim for higher salary jobs and better career opportunities. From middle and senior levels, software talents also actively look for ideas or opportunities to be co-founder/founder of their own startup. How does your submission address this challenge? UCTalent platform addresses the challenges of time-consuming and expensive traditional recruitment methods by connecting talents and hiring companies through an innovative talent-to-talent referral mechanism with on-chain rewards facilitated by smart contracts. This approach will create a trust between the outside talents with hiring companies, so that it can leverage personal networks to find the right talent for the right opportunity. In the future we would be the web3 talent platform to help users get the best opportunity, control their online data and own the platform via these solutions: - Dispute Resolution: A built-in dispute resolution mechanism with a dispute fee and community involvement allows for fair and transparent resolution of any disagreements between companies and talents/referrers. - Blockchain-based Features: UCTalent leverages blockchain technology to offer features like verifiable talent profiles, external referral by smart contract, direct connections and payments. - UCTalent's Coaching & Mentoring with Passkey NFTs: UCTalent goes beyond simply connecting talent and companies. We recognize the importance of career development and empower aspiring professionals to bridge the skills gap and reach their full potential. - UCTalent Token: UCTalent cryptocurrency serves as the primary payment method for all services on the platform, facilitating revenue sharing and user ownership within the UCTalent ecosystem. Challenges we ran into We are building a marketplace to connect talents with hiring sides, then develop a marketplace to become a social network with multiple connections between talent vs talent, hiring companies vs talent, company to company, etc. So it is a bit of a chicken and egg problem to have network effects and grow faster. We have started by crawling jobs from the internet, reviewing crawled jobs, and publishing into UCTalent job boards. UCTalent is focusing high-tech Web3 and blockchain jobs in Vietnam to become the number one web3 job board in Vietnam. Next step, we built and released a personal career assessment tool by AI, so that we can help talents to evaluate their career and have personalized career development plans, along with matched jobs for the users. By doing this, we got 1000 Web3 and blockchain talents that have onboarded and built profiles on our platform; around 800 applications have been sent through UCTalent. The next step to reach a network effect for our talent-hiring marketplace is building a free application tracking system (ATS) for the hiring side to use. Along with this, free job posting and referral smart contract allow UCTalent to attract more hiring companies to join. This is the part we have done through the Based SEA hackathon time. Beside the problem in the business model itself, the UIUX and technical problems to get onboard into the Web3 platform is also the biggest challenge. We have postponed including web3 components until we found the right solution to get onboard web2 users easily. For this issue, products in Base and Coinbase ecosystem will help us a lot, specially for OnchainKit and smart wallet, basename, Coinbase Onramp and Coinbase Verification. We have used OnchainKit and smart wallet for the Based SEA Hackathon Developing the referral smart contract during hackathon time, it is complicated to cover edge and unhappy cases.
