    About

The problem it solves # The Problem: The "No-Consequence" Loop In today's digital landscape, our focus is the product being bought and sold. Most productivity tools (timers, blockers, forest-planting apps) fail because they rely entirely on **passive willpower**. - **The "Cheat" Factor:** It is too easy to just "close the app" and scroll TikTok without any real penalty. - **The Lack of Stakes:** There is no skin in the game. If you fail a study session, you've lost nothing but time—something we've been conditioned to undervalue. - **The Isolation:** Productivity is often a lonely battle with no social or community upside for being disciplined. # The Solution: Tsumi Tsumi transforms focus into a **high-stakes protocol**. By combining **decentralized finance (DeFi)** with **native mobile monitoring**, it creates a system where discipline is literally profitable. ## 1. Financial Accountability (Loss Aversion) Tsumi uses the psychological principle of **Loss Aversion**. Humans are twice as motivated to avoid a loss as they are to achieve a gain. By staking **ETH**, the user creates a tangible consequence for distraction. - **Old Way:** "I should study." (Fails easily). - **Tsumi Way:** "If I open Instagram in the next hour, I lose $20." (Focuses immediately). ## 2. Automated Enforcement (The "Anti-Cheat") Unlike other apps that rely on "honor systems," Tsumi uses **Native Android Monitoring**. - It detects the exact moment a "forbidden" app is opened. - It triggers an automatic **slashing event** on the blockchain. - This makes the task of staying focused **safer** from our own impulses by removing the "choice" to ignore the timer. ## 3. The Flywheel Standard apps keep your data or subscription fee regardless of your success. Tsumi redistributes failure into community success. - **25% of slashed funds** go to a **Monthly Leaderboard Pool**. - This creates a community incentive: the most disciplined users are directly rewarded by those who couldn't stay focused. # What can people use it for? ## The "Deep Work" Student Pre-med or Law students who need 4-hour blocks of uninterrupted study. They stake ETH to ensure they don't break their flow to check a group chat. ## The Remote Worker Digital nomads and WFH professionals who struggle with "home distractions." Tsumi creates a clear "Work-to-Earn" boundary during their 9-to-5. ## The Dopamine Detox Individuals looking to break phone addiction. By gradually increasing their "un-slashed" focus time, they rebuild their neural pathways for long-term concentration. ## Competitive Productivity High-performers who want to prove their discipline. Users can compete to see who can accumulate the most "Focus Hours" and win the monthly redistribution prize.

    How it's made

Challenges we ran into My primary hurdle was the "App Blocking" wall. I struggled to find a reliable way to enforce focus without violating OS security sandboxes. After researching Accessibility Services and iOS Screen Time APIs which proved too intrusive or required long approval times. I overcame this by implementing the Android UsageStatsManager API, coupled with a custom "Permission Bridge" and a "Violation Overlay" logic. This shifted my approach from an unreliable hard block to an active monitoring system that intercepts forbidden apps and triggers a slashing event if the user breaks their session, successfully bridging the gap between native OS behavior and blockchain staking.
