I just heard about base 2 days ago and I saw @0xEricBrown tweet on X. Did some research on base, loved the community then decided to participate in this program. My Original Idea: An app where you can create or join group savings pools, contribute regularly with others using USDC or ETH, and receive a payout in turn based on the slot you choose. The platform automates contributions, deadlines, and payouts through smart contracts on Base, ensuring transparency and trust. But because the deadline was Sunday, I decided to build v1 which is Tabsy.
How it's made
Challenges we ran into ## **Challenges I Ran Into** ### **Smart Contract Escrow Logic** The biggest technical hurdle was designing the escrow mechanism in the smart contract. I initially struggled with the flow of: 1. How to handle partial payments 2. What happens if someone doesn't pay their share 3. How to prevent the bill creator from withdrawing funds prematurely **Solution:** I implemented a state machine pattern where bills progress through stages (Created → Partially Paid → Fully Paid → Completed), with each stage having specific permissions and actions available. ### **Farcaster Integration Complexity** Integrating with Farcaster's API was difficult for me and till now, I don't know if my app is in review or not. However, I submitted the manifest.json file and it was accepted. ### **Wallet Onboarding Friction** Getting users to connect wallets and understand gas fees was initially a major drop-off point. **Solution:** I integrated Coinbase Smart Wallet with gasless transaction options and added clear visual indicators showing exactly what users are paying for, reducing confusion and abandonment rates.
